Their offense had a total of only 15 points going into week three. But the team kept their head held high and proceeded into week three with a purpose.

The Seahawks faced off against the San Francisco 49ers at home in CenturyLink field on September 25. From the start, it wasn’t much of a competition, the Seahawks scoring within the first minute of the game. They would eventually finish with a 37-18 win over the 49ers, advancing into week four 2-1.

Seattle Seahawks Week Three Takeaways

Can Russell Wilson remain Healthy?

In week one versus the Miami Dolphins, Russell Wilson suffered a high ankle sprain during a sack by defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. But he has not given up on his team. The Seahawks followed their first win with a loss to the Los Angeles Rams in week two. Not a single touchdown was scored in the game by either team. Some may see the Seahawks deficiency of play was because of Wilson still suffering from the repercussions of his injury.

Wilson came back in week three with a stellar performance, finishing the game with 243 yards, one touchdown, and a 65 percent completion percentage. Once again in the third quarter, Wilson suffered an additional injury, later revealed to be an MCL sprain. He returned for one play but was quickly replaced by backup Trevone Boykin for the remainder of the game.

Wilson has surprisingly stayed healthy in the first four years of his career, that is, until this season. Many are considering that because of how competitive Wilson is, he may not take the necessary time to recover and his injuries could cause a more extreme downfall.

Jimmy Graham is Back in Seattle

Seahawks fans have been excited about the arrival of Jimmy Graham since he was traded to Seattle by the New Orleans Saints in March of 2015. When he first arrived, his struggle to adjust within the system was clear. But when he finally started to get it, his first season in Seattle was cut short with a season-ending knee injury.

Graham started off the first two games of 2016 with four receptions and 53 yards. His return was quickly made memorable against the 49ers when he finished the win with six receptions, 100 yards, and one touchdown. It seems his injury may not be a plague any time soon and he is yearning to get back onto the field.

Christine Michael to the Rescue

The Seahawks have not seemed too worried since the retirement of running back Marshawn Lynch earlier in February of this year considering the depth they currently have in the back field. Besides Thomas Rawls, who is currently nursing an injury, they re-signed fourth-year man Christine Michael who has shown true promise for the starting job. Michael has 232 yards and two touchdowns as well as seven receptions for 36 yards.

The Defense

The Seahawks defense has shown consistency for the entire first three games of the season. They have proven that a few of the notable off-season player losses have not damaged their ability to get the defensive side of the ball done.

Seattle’s defense has combined for a total of 187 tackles, eight sacks, and one interception so far in 2016. Known as one of the most feared defenses in the NFL, if not the most feared, they certainly will not stop here.

Embed from Getty Images

The Seattle Seahawks came out of their first two games of the season with only 15 total points on offense.
