While teams will find the occasional diamond in the rough in rounds 4-7, by and large, all of the players capable of making an immediate impact are already off the board. This means that free agent veterans like David Njoku will start receiving calls once the draft officially wraps up, and Bleacher Report’s Doric Sam believes the former first-round pick will have multiple suitors.

A one-time Pro Bowler, Njoku was one of the league’s better tight ends at the peak of his career. However, his final season in Cleveland was something of a disappointment, as he finished the year with just 33 receptions for 293 yards and four touchdowns while falling behind rookie tight end Harold Fannin on the depth chart. Now entering his age-30 season, Njoku’s best days may be behind him, but Sam believes three teams could kick the tires on him and see if he has any gas left in his tank.

“The Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys, and Miami Dolphins are among the teams that could use some depth at the tight end position,” Sam writes. “Njoku would be a reliable outlet for quarterbacks Bo Nix, Dak Prescott, or Malik Willis.”

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOB5YPjKaRv" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 5152px; aspect-ratio: 5152/3556;" ></smartframe-embed>

David Njoku Connected to Broncos, Cowboys, and Dolphins

At first glance, it’s easy to see why Sam chose these three teams as potential landing spots for David Njoku. Miami was the only team to select a tight end in the first three rounds, and they landed Ohio State’s Will Kacmarek with the 87th pick in the draft. Perhaps he can turn into a solid starter down the line, but nobody should bank on him making an immediate impact. Njoku could be a solid short-term option at the position and provide some support for Malik Willis as he attempts to prove himself as a legitimate franchise quarterback while playing with one of the weakest rosters in football.

The Broncos and Cowboys, meanwhile, have ok but unremarkable tight ends in Evan Engram and Jake Ferguson, respectively. Engram had a disappointing first season in Denver, recording just 461 yards and one touchdown on 50 targets. Head coach Sean Payton loves tight ends, so it makes sense to bring in Njoku and see if he can be an upgrade. Jake Ferguson, meanwhile, is coming off a season where he recorded 82 receptions for just 600 yards and eight touchdowns. This isn’t bad overall production by any stretch of the imagination, but his 5.9 yards per target was one of the lower marks in the league.

Free agent tight end David Njoku could start receiving interest now that the first two days of the 2026 NFL Draft are over

<smartframe-embed customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOB4qUaR0Dz" style="width: 100%;max-width: 6240px;aspect-ratio: 6240/3512"></smartframe-embed>
[36,8,19,15,4,6431
7744,1683,7309
post-279676","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-news","category-browns","category-cowboys","category-broncos","category-dolphins","category-nfl-teams","tag-cleveland-browns-draft","tag-david-njoku","tag-denver-broncos-roster
["GET
