Second-round Tyler Shough looked like the real deal down the stretch and gives New Orleans a legitimate shot to win the NFC South and potentially go on a deep playoff run. However, while quarterback is the game’s most important position, it takes a full team to become a legitimate contender.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="a61405551f80e72f675225f083759bb9" image-id="fwuQS5Jp7eIJ" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3500px; aspect-ratio: 3500/2333;" ></smartframe-embed>

New Orleans Saints Draft Grades: A Pick-by-Pick Breakdown

First Round (8th Overall): Jordyn Tyson, WR

The Saints kicked off their draft with perhaps the most high-risk, high-reward player on the board. Nobody can deny Jordyn Tyson’s natural ability, and New Orleans desperately needed another set of hands. However, Tyson’s extensive injury history makes him a considerable risk for such an early selection. The Arizona State product missed significant time throughout his collegiate tenure, which suggests his body simply cannot handle the game’s physical nature. The NFL season is longer than college, and everyone is bigger, faster, and stronger. Only time will tell if he can endure a 17-game schedule, but it’s a risky gamble to make.

Saints Draft Grade: C+

Jordyn Tyson NFL Draft Profile

Second Round (42nd Overall): Christen Miller, DT

The Saints tradition of investing in defensive tackles continued in the second round with Georgia’s Christen Miller. Miller isn’t a versatile lineman that can slide over to the edge, but he knows how to take up space in the interior. Weighing in at 6′-4″ and 231 pounds, Miller is next to impossible to move in the trenches and should help New Orleans shut down opposing rushing attacks. He won’t rack up sacks, but he can also collapse the pocket and make life uncomfortable for the opposing quarterback. Ultimately, he’s an old-school football player whose impact will go far beyond the box score.

Saints Draft Grade: B+

Christen Miller NFL Draft Profile

Third Round (73rd Overall): Oscar Delp, TE

The New Orleans Saints desperately needed another tight end, ans Oscar Delp has the potential to be this team’s long-term answer at the position. While Juwan Johnson will remain the team’s primary receiving tight end, Delp brings plenty of value as a traditional in-line tight end. In the short term, look for Delp to spend most of his time clearing lanes in the running game and keep quarterback Tyler Shough upright. However, he has the potential to be a solid receiving option and could earn a larger role in a year or two when Johnson starts slowing down.

Saints Draft Grade: B

Oscar Delp NFL Draft Profile

Fourth Round (132nd Overall): Jeremiah Wright, G

The New Orleans Saints have struggled to solidify their offensive line for years, and Jeremiah Wright will hopefully help to bring an end to these struggles. The Auburn product is fantastic in the run game and only started playing guard in 2022, which suggests he has room to develop at the position. David Edwards and Cesar Ruiz will start, which gives Wright time to develop into the team’s long-term answer in the coming years.

Saints Draft Grade: B-

Fourth Round (136th Overall): Bryce Lance, WR

As mentioned above, the Saints needed wide receivers, and nobody should blame them for double-dipping at the position. Lance is a taller receiver who will likely spend most of his time on the outside. With Chris Olave and first-round pick Jordyn Tyson firmly entrenched atop the depth chart, look for Lance to battle DeVaughn Vele for the WR3 position. No matter who wins the battle, it will be good for Shough to have another reliable weapon.

Saints Draft Grade: B+

Bryce Lance NFL Draft Profile

Fifth Round (172nd Overall): Lorenzo Styles Jr., S

The Saints once again went for a high-ceiling player with plenty of room for development in Lorenzo Styles. The Ohio State product possesses blazing speed, having run a 4.27-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. While he’s still raw as a defensive back, it’s worth noting he used to play wide receiver. Much like Jeremiah Wright, Styles might need time to develop but offers plenty of upside down the road. In the fifth round, that’s the type of gamble you take every day of the week.

Saints Draft Grade: A-

Sixth Round (190th Overall): Barion Brown, WR

Ok, this might be too many wide receivers. This point of the draft is all about selecting the best player available rather than trying to fill roster holes, but there are only so many snaps to go around. This is likely a special teams pick, as Brown housed six kick returns during his time at the collegiate level. While he’s listed as a wide receiver, it’s hard to envision a world where he’s used for anything other than kickoffs and the occasional gadget play on offense.

Saints Draft Grade: C+

Seventh Round (219th Overall): TJ Hall, CB

The New Orleans Saints wrapped up their draft with the type of player you’d expect to be on the board in the seventh round. Like most seventh-round picks, Hall will spend the coming months fighting for one of the final spots on the depth chart. The good news for him is that the Saints aren’t exactly loaded at cornerback, so he should have a decent shot at making the roster, especially if he can carve out a role on special teams.

Saints Draft Grade: B

The New Orleans Saints entered the 2026 NFL Draft with more hope than any season in recent memory, and now it’s time to grade their picks and see if they made the most of their opportunities.
