Reports and rumors have A.J. Brown as a potential target. This is a must for New England if they want to win the Super Bowl.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It has been a roller-coaster relationship with <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2026\/04\/22\/fantasy-fallout-aj-brown-likely-to-be-traded-to-new-england\/\" target=\"_self\">A.J. Brown<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/eagles\/\" target=\"_self\">Philadelphia Eagles.<\/a> With the two sides butting heads, all signs may point to him leaving all together.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why should the New England Patriots pursue him?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>How A.J. But the Patriots lack a true\u00a0 \u2018X\u2019 weapon who can make plays and dominate one-on-one. The team recently released wideout<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/2976212\/stefon-diggs\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Stefon Diggs.<\/a> In his place, they signed Packers receiver<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4361432\/romeo-doubs\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Romeo Doubs.<\/a> While he is an effective signing, he is seen more as the second option on the team.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A.J. Brown will be able to provide the traditional attributes for a number one receiver. He also will keep the defense honest with his ability to make plays on big routes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>The New England Patriots&#8217; Dominance<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The offense currently will have to rely on <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4427095\/demario-douglas\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">DeMario Douglas<\/a> and Romeo Doubs. They are missing the physicality part of a receiver. A.J. Brown is elite at turning slants and hitches into big gains. He doesn\u2019t just win with speed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He will be able to use his arm strength and verbal base before attacking the defense to create separation. This is what made him successful with the Philadelphia Eagles over the past few seasons. His dominance on the outside will have corners on their heels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>The Mike Vrabel Connection<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If Brown came to the New England Patriots, he would be united with head coach Mike Vrabel. The two were together during their time with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/titans\/\" target=\"_self\">Tennessee Titans.<\/a> Brown was also highly productive during his tenure in the Music City.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But also, Vrabel has an offensive scheme that relies heavily on the running game. This is followed by a mix of deep play action down the field. Brown is one of the best deep-ball receivers in the game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He would be used in a variety of ways that can expand his moveset.
