Beck committed to Georgia and redshirted his first season with the team. After spending two seasons as a backup quarterback, Beck earned the starting job for the 2023 season. In his first season as a full-time starter, Beck led the SEC in passing yards and helped lead Georgia to a 13-1 record and an Orange Bowl victory. He finished the following season with 28 passing touchdowns and 12 interceptions before transferring to Miami for the 2025 season. In 2025, Beck helped Miami reach its first College Football Playoff appearance. Beck went 13-3 as the starting quarterback for the Hurricanes, and won the Cotton Bowl and Fiesta Bowl to reach the National Championship game. He earned Third Team All-ACC honors.

Strengths:

Beck has good size for the position at 6-foot-5 and 233 pounds. He is a very experienced college quarterback who has played in a lot of big games and won a lot of big games. Beck finished his college career with a 37-6 record as a starter. He played in multiple SEC Championship games during his career, won the Orange Bowl at Georgia, and reached the College Football Playoff at Miami, winning the Cotton Bowl and Fiesta Bowl, along with a National Championship game appearance.

Beck has good accuracy in the short area of the field, and he maintained a high completion percentage throughout his entire college career. Has a career 69.5% completion percentage, and had the second-best completion percentage in the entire country in 2025, completing 72.4% of his passes on the season. Beck has good overall throwing mechanics and a quick release. He throws the ball with decent anticipation and does a good job of avoiding unnecessary sacks.

Weaknesses:

Beck does not have elite arm talent. His overall arm strength is average, and he is not a consistent passer when throwing deep down the field. He also struggles when under pressure. Beck’s mechanics and decision-making are not as strong when under pressure, and he recorded a 43.0 PFF grade under pressure during the 2025 season. Beck had 12 interceptions in back-to-back seasons, and needs to do a better job at limiting turnovers. He also lacks great mobility. Beck moves well in the pocket and is able to occasionally pick up some yards on the ground, but it is not a big part of his game.

Potential Team Fits:

Cleveland Browns

Miami Dolphins

New York Jets

Pittsburgh Steelers

NFL Projection:

Beck is an experienced college quarterback who has played in and won a lot of big games against great competition at the college level. He has good size for the position, is an accurate passer in the short area of the field, and he does a good job at getting rid of the ball quickly and limiting unnecessary sacks. He doesn’t possess elite arm talent, athletic ability, or great consistency under pressure. However, with his experience and ability from a clean pocket, Beck does have the skill set to potentially be a solid game manager at the NFL level if he limits turnovers and continues to improve his ability to read the defense and go through progressions.

Prospect Grade:

Early Fifth Round

Main Photo: Melina Myers-Imagn Images

Carson Beck scouting report.
