Deven Eastern is a Midwest big man in the trenches, coming out of Minnesota ready to play in the trenches. Scouts love his size at 6’6″ and 320 pounds, with room to add bulk, too. His 34″ arms, combined with a high motor that runs from whistle to whistle, will entice teams to draft and plug him into their defensive tackle rotation. Although he is a solid run defender, Eastern struggles with pass-rushing moves. Despite his physical attributes, Eastern’s production on the field hasn’t wowed scouts. He needs to lower his pad level, tackle reliably, and stay upright. Too often, he is on the ground, not what teams expect from their interior linemen. Eastern is viewed by some teams as a better potential fit playing end in a 3-4 defense. Eastern is worth a flyer in the sixth or seventh round.<\/span><\/p>\n
