Specifically, this group set the NFL Combine ablaze. Led by presumable first-round selection Kenyon Sadiq, the TE group averaged a time of 4.62 in the 40-yard dash, a height of 34.5 inches in the vertical jump, and a distance of 10 feet and 2 inches in the broad jump. One of the highlight players from the event was Stanford’s Sam Roush, who specifically ran a 4.70 40-yard dash, recorded a 38.5-inch vertical, and a 10.5-foot broad jump. Roush is currently the 105th player on the LWOS Big Board, which equates to TE8.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBifmkEuzg" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 4989px; aspect-ratio: 4989/3325;" ></smartframe-embed>

Sam Roush 2026 NFL Draft Profile

Measurements*

Height: 6’6″

Weight: 267

Arm Length: 30 5/8″

Hand Size: 10″

*confirmed at NFL Scouting Combine

Player Background

Sam Roush was a 4-star recruit out of Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, Tennessee. His family is littered with athletic experience, as both his mother and father played college sports. His father played football at Duke, and his mother played volleyball at Montana State. Also, his grandfather on his mother’s side, Phil Olsen, played professional football for the Rams, Broncos, and Bills. This athletic prowess continues throughout his family, all the way back to his great-grandfather on his father’s side, who played professional baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals. His other paternal great-grandfather was a national runner-up at the 1941 National Invitational Tournament with Ohio.

Out of high school, Sam committed to Stanford, the university where he would end up playing his entire collegiate career. Through his first three seasons, he wasn’t an incredible contributor. As a freshman, he was mostly a special teamer. Once he became a sophomore, he began starting at tight end. He started 10 games that season. In his final two seasons at Stanford, Roush started all 24 games (12 each season). In 2025, during his senior season, he racked up 49 catches, 545 yards, and 2 TDs on 80 targets. He was named Second Team All-ACC by the coaches for his play. Sam didn’t get much recognition strictly for football at Stanford, but he did get recognized an awful lot for his academics. He received academic awards every year at Stanford, headlined by the Al Masters Award and the Tommy Vardell Award in 2025.

Strengths

Incredibly explosive athlete for his size

Agility testing was also incredible for his size (7.08)

Willing run-blocker, not afraid to get active

Solid YAC ability

Good receiving instincts against zone coverage

Consistently recognized for academic achievement – smart

Family is full of athletes

Weaknesses

Drops are an issue (7 in 2025)

Will be difficult to separate against NFL man coverage due to his size

Lacks the physicality needed in contested catch situations despite his frame and athleticism

Needs to refine his blocking technique

Player Comparison: Juiced-up Drew Sample

Projected Draft Capital: Late Day 2

Team Fits: Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears

Last Word on Sam Roush in the 2026 NFL Draft

Sam Roush shouldn’t have a hard time finding work in the NFL. Whichever team that drafts him should know exactly what they’re getting – a fine blocker with untapped potential as a plus-athlete. Roush is very unlike some of his running mates in this tight end class, like Kenyon Sadiq, Eli Stowers, and Michael Trigg. Those players get talked about much more because of their versatility in the passing game. Meanwhile, Roush will get the dirty work done in the run game and still offers 4.70 speed and elite explosiveness as a pass catcher. If he can figure out the drops and perhaps slim down a little bit to help add to his receiving game, Roush has otherworldly potential. For now, teams with a need for a run blocker will covet him.

Main Photo: [Stan Szeto] – Imagn Images

Sam Roush is as traditional of a tight end prospect as they come in 2025.
