Coming off a 2025 campaign where Loveland has shown potential to blossom into a starting role, Kmet is left dangling on where he might end up. Kmet will become an unrestricted free agent in 2028, but he has a potential “out.”

This means the Bears could consider either trading or cutting him, which would save them $7.4 million in cap space if it’s done before June 1. Originally selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the former Notre Dame product came off a struggling 2024 campaign. As a result, the Bears took Loveland during the first round of the 2025 draft, and Kmet admitted that he has “taken a step back.” However, Bears head coach Ben Johnson said that Loveland’s addition was just to complement him, but it’s worth bringing up a trade possibility.

If it came down to Loveland and Kmet, the Bears are likely to stick with Loveland, who is under a rookie deal and younger. Similar to what happened to DJ Moore this offseason, the team would be open to shipping Kmet at the right price.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOB4ovgzMDq" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3000px; aspect-ratio: 3000/2000;" ></smartframe-embed>

Ravens, Bears Likely to Discuss Cole Kmet Trade During 2026 NFL Draft

Meanwhile, it’s understandable to see what Knox is coming from. The Ravens lost Isaiah Likely and reliable depth piece Charlie Kolar this offseason, which means Baltimore should be searching for at least a new backup. Kmet is still 27-years-old and can complement Mark Andrews in the passing game for Lamar Jackson. Unlike Darren Waller, who has been linked to Baltimore, Kmet offers a better upside and explosivity.

New Future in Baltimore?

The move makes too much sense for the Ravens. Coming off a struggling passing attack for Jackson, the Ravens need another high-end pass-catcher to help Rashod Bateman. Andrews is good, but the team can’t afford to lean all of the responsibility on him. Given the chemistry between Kmet and Ravens new offensive coordinator, Declan Doyle, this would easily be one of Baltimore’s best additions. However, like the Ravens, there are at least two teams that could use a tight end.

Other Possible Suitors

Denver Broncos

Here is a team that needs a tight end. The Broncos added Jaylen Waddle as a major overhaul to the team’s passing game for Bo Nix, but starting tight end Evan Engram is coming off a struggling 2025 season. Even though Denver can’t fault a player based on one season, they should be motivated to shore up the position by at least bringing in Kmet for competition. Kmet has more of a chance to turn into their starter for the long haul, especially for a team that was successful during the 2025 campaign and made their mark in the AFC Championship.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers are considered the wild-card landing spot for Kmet. After adding Jaelan Phillips and Devin Lloyd on defense, it might be time for the team to add some additional offensive fiery weapons for Bryce Young. The Panthers brought in Tetairoa McMillan through the draft last offseason, but they need to upgrade the tight end position. Despite extending Tommy Tremble and having Ja’Tavion Sanders, Kmet is the better fit for this team’s aspirations to elevate this team to the NFC Divisional Round.

The Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears could finalize a blockbuster trade involving TE Cole Kmet this 2026 NFL Draft.

<smartframe-embed customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBfstz5Chv" style="width: 100%;max-width: 3000px;aspect-ratio: 3000/2000"></smartframe-embed>
[36,10,30,23,15,6431
33533,7723,7739,7403,6188,7305,1692,9115,32193,3770,246,7661,7638,7998
post-274351","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-news","category-ravens","category-panthers","category-bears","category-broncos","category-nfl-teams","tag-2026-nfl-draft","tag-baltimore-ravens-news","tag-carolina-panthers-news","tag-chicago-bears-news","tag-cole-kmet","tag-denver-broncos-news","tag-evan-engram","tag-isaiah-likely","tag-lastest-nfl-news","tag-mark-andrews","tag-nfl-news","tag-panthers-featured","tag-ravens-featured","tag-tommy-tremble
["GET
