At this time of year, NFL teams have put into place their 90-man roster and are evaluating player\u2019s talent through training camp and preseason games. While many fans are focused on the performance of their team\u2019s star and fringe players, they lose sight of the players that won\u2019t put up huge numbers but will made an impact on the field in the regular season. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The purpose of preseason games is not winning or losing, it\u2019s about getting an initial look at all players on the roster and how they can help out the team when it really matters. Players like safety <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SmitHa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Harrison Smith<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and wide receiver <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/D\/DiggSt00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stefon Diggs<\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are always put in the spotlight while other role players are often forgotten. Here are five\u00a0 underrated Minnesota Viking players to watch for 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Five Underrated Minnesota Viking Players in 2017<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<h3><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WaynTr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trae Waynes<\/a><\/b><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the eleventh pick in the 2015 NFL draft, the Minnesota Vikings took cornerback <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WaynTr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trae Waynes<\/a> out of Michigan State. Since being drafted, Waynes hasn\u2019t seen the field as much as many fans have expected. With the small sample size, we have seen the highs and lows of the former Michigan State standout. From the countless pass interference calls to the game winning interception last year against the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/packers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Green Bay Packers<\/strong><\/a>, we have seen a player that struggles at times but has tremendous potential. When cornerback <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MunnCa99.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Captain Munnerlyn<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> departed for the Carolina Panthers in the off-season, a door opened for Waynes to see the field. In 2017, Waynes may be given the opportunity to start and make the most out of that opportunity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Waynes will make an immediate impact for the Vikings secondary; his improved technique and blazing speed will help him stay with wide receivers throughout their routes. In 2016, Waynes was second on the team in interceptions despite not consistently seeing the field. With another off-season to improve, Trae has impressed many at Vikings training camp in Mankato. Opposite corner back <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RhodXa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Xavier Rhodes<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Waynes will positively surprise fans with his play in 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>\n<h3><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MorgDa01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Morgan<\/a><\/b><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A second year tight end out of University of Texas San Antonio, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MorgDa01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Morgan<\/a> specializes in both pass and run blocking. Morgan, the third tight end on the Vikings 2016 roster, will play a larger role this year due to the departure of <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/E\/ElliRh00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rhett Ellison<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the Giants. Few fans have heard a lot of Morgan, but that will change this year. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While drafted primarily to be used as an elite blocking tight end, Morgan has showed his ability to run routes and catch the ball downfield through practice and training camp. With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RudoKy00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kyle Rudolph<\/a> being the only tight end listed ahead of Morgan on the depth chart, Morgan will be given an opportunity to showcase his skills. Morgan is ready to execute anything that coaches ask, a skill that will propel him to more playing time and the recognition he deserves. <\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>\n<h3><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SendAn00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andrew Sendejo<\/a> <\/b><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SendAn00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andrew Sendejo<\/a> lines up next to all-pro safety <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SmitHa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Harrison Smith<\/a>. Sendejo has occupied the strong safety position next to Smith for since earning the role. While living in Smith\u2019s shadow, Sendejo has qualities that contribute to Minnesota\u2019s top-tier defense.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you haven\u2019t seen the biceps of Sendejo, be warned, they are quite large. Along with his big arms, Sendejo makes big plays for <strong>Mike Zimmer&#8217;s<\/strong> defense. Sendejo finished third on the team in interceptions while playing in 14 games. H <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is role on the Vikings defense and is to limit big plays downfield. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another year under Zimmer\u2019s system will only help Sendejo improve.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>\n<h3><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BoonAl21.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Boone<\/a><\/b><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Known for toughness and frequent cussing, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BoonAl21.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Boone<\/a> is in his second year with the Minnesota Vikings. Boone\u2019s first year didn\u2019t go as planned, as the offensive line crumbled before everyone\u2019s eyes. Boone had to play next to\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/ClemT.00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">T.J. Clemmings<\/a><\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LongJa20.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jake Long<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/K\/KaliMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Kalil<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the majority of the year and that definitely didn\u2019t help him. The Vikings brought in <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/ReifRi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Riley Reiff<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a former <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/lions\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Lion<\/a><\/strong>, to play left tackle this season which will be an extreme improvement for the offensive line. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Working under offensive line coach <strong>Tony Sparano<\/strong> will help Boone improve and allow him to get better at pass protection this year. Boone was a great run blocking guard for the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/49ers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">San Francisco 49ers<\/a>, and being surrounded by similar talent in 2017, Boone will be able to focus on his assignments and help the Vikings running game prosper once again. <\/span><\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>\n<h3><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FloyMi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Michael Floyd<\/a><\/b><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On December twelfth of last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FloyMi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Michael Floyd<\/a> was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/18279091\/cardinals-release-wr-michael-floyd-arrest-dui-charge\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">arrested for a DUI <\/a>after sporting a blood alcohol level of .217 (almost three times the legal limit). After the incident, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FloyMi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Michael Floyd<\/a> was <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2016\/12\/14\/arizona-cardinals-release-michael-floyd-following-arrest-dui\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">released <\/a>by the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/cardinals\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Arizona Cardinals<\/strong> <\/a>and<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2016\/12\/15\/new-england-patriots-claim-michael-floyd-off-waivers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> later signed<\/a> by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/nfl-teams\/patriots\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New England Patriots<\/a><\/strong>. After winning Superbowl 51 with the Patriots, they decided to let Floyd leave in free agency. Floyd signed with his hometown team in Minnesota and realizes this may be his last chance to make an impact on an NFL roster.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Throughout training camp, Floyd has looked like the Notre Dame star he once was. Floyd has surprised many coaches and fans this off season and they are ready to see his impact on the field. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While fans are eager to see Floyd in regular season action, they will have to wait. Floyd was <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/2017\/07\/14\/michael-floyd-suspended\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">given a four game suspension <\/a>by the NFL that he will serve before seeing the field.
