The beloved University of Tennessee signal caller became the 68th overall selection of the Lions in the 2023 draft. Hooker spent time with the Lions, Panthers, and the Jets in his brief career. However, his tenure with the Lions was brief, as he was released in August 2025. Fate is a funny thing, as former Titans starter Will Levis was part of the same draft class.

Of course, Volunteers fans naturally favored Hooker being drafted by the home-state team over Levis, who played collegiately at SEC rival Kentucky. Now, both compete for a roster spot after their journeys intertwined once again. Surely, there will be rabid interest in the battle for the emergency third quarterback role in training camp (a phrase rarely uttered in the annals of football). Hooker possesses more experience in that role, while Levis is arguably the better talent. Levis has been the subject of rampant trade speculation since it was clear that he’s no longer capable of being a starter for the Titans. Tennessee’s current backup is set in stone with Mitchell Trubisky signing this offseason.

RB Michael Carter

The #Titans aren’t done, as they are also signing former #AZCardinals RB Michael Carter, sources say. The former #Jets RB rejoins coach Robert Saleh. pic.twitter.com/pyIRvjgFdQ

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 1, 2026

Carter joins the Saleh reunion tour in Nashville after wandering the hinterlands of Arizona football for the past 2.5 seasons. He began his career in New York as a fourth-round selection of the 2021 draft. His rookie campaign was his most successful, but Carter failed to solidify a lead-back role in 2022 following Breece Hall’s injury. The Jets released the former UNC runner during the 2023 season, and he ultimately landed with the Cardinals.

His impact in the desert didn’t bear fruit, failing to crack 1,000 scrimmage yards during his stint there. Tennessee’s backfield depth is thin on the back end, and he’ll provide competition for RB3. His acquisition is a lottery ticket signing for GM Mike Borgonzi at this point. The Titans are interested in the running back draft class and could target Jeremiyah Love.

WR K.J. Osborn

Titans are signing are signing former Commanders free-agent wide receiver KJ Osborn to a one-year deal, per source. pic.twitter.com/bKLaXPM6I6

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 1, 2026

Speaking of lottery tickets, Osborn is another one for the Titans, as he spent the 2025 season out of the NFL after an ineffective 2024 for two teams. He’s mostly known for his work in Minnesota, serving as a capable number two man behind the all-world stud receiver Justin Jefferson. Osborn last played for the Commanders after spending time with the Patriots in the same season. In three seasons as a Viking, he notched over 1,800 yards and 15 touchdowns. The Titans indeed need work on the back end of the receiver depth chart, and Osborn could fit that bill. Tennessee, quite frankly, needs help in the middle of the receiver pecking order, even after retaining Calvin Ridley. The youngsters like Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor are unproven rising sophomores needing further development. Signing Osborn could be a band-aid to help their progress along in a zero-pressure environment.

WR Lance McCutcheon

In a shocking twist, the Titans have become a home where receivers unretire instead of being ferried to the retirement home. McCutcheon retired for a few weeks earlier in the offseason, then recently had a change of heart. He’s intimately familiar with Tennessee, having been a member of the team’s practice squad in 2025. The former Montana State receiver started his career with the Rams as an undrafted free agent before spending time with the Texans, Jets, and Steelers. Even here, the Saleh reunion blooms another flower. He’ll likely compete for a roster spot with draft picks and what little receiver depth the Titans feature at the moment.

The Titans further bolstered their depth as they get into the draft process with another shopping spree.
