Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix<\/a> has accomplished a lot in his first two seasons as the team\u2019s starting quarterback. One of the biggest milestones of his career so far has been leading the Broncos to the postseason in back-to-back seasons, something the team hadn\u2019t accomplished since 2015. Here\u2019s more information on the Broncos’ starting quarterback.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pinson Valley High School (Pinson, Alabama) \u2014 Class of 2019<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Nix is originally from Arkadelphia, Arkansas, but played high school football for his father, Patrick Nix, at both Pinson Valley High School in Pinson, Alabama, and Scottsboro High School in Scottsboro, Alabama.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-2, 217-pound quarterback was a five-star recruit according to 247sports<\/a> and set Alabama state records, having over 12,000 yards and 161 touchdowns during his time at Pinson Valley, while he threw for 3,463 yards and 40 touchdowns while at Scottsboro.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pinson Valley won consecutive Class 6A State titles with Nix, who ended his high school career with accolades such as being rated the top dual-threat quarterback of his class, being named Alabama Mr. Football and Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year, and playing in the Under Armour All-America Game.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some other extracurriculars Nix was involved in include playing baseball and basketball, as well as being in the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Auburn (2019-2021)<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Nix stayed in Alabama and committed to play college football for the Auburn Tigers, where he started as a freshman and played the first three seasons of his college career.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In three seasons with the Tigers, Nix played in 34 games and posted a 21-13 record, throwing for 7,250 yards and 39 touchdowns. Nix also did well in the run game, rushing for 869 yards and 18 rushing touchdowns.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some awards Nix won during his tenure at Auburn include SEC Freshman of the Year, as well as the Manning Award Star of the Week and SEC Freshman of the Week twice.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Oregon (2022-2023)<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

After his final season at Auburn, Nix still had two years of eligibility left and decided to finish his college football career with the Oregon Ducks in Eugene, Oregon. Nix\u2019s decision to transfer from Auburn boosted his draft stock. It allowed him to play with his current teammate, Troy Franklin<\/a>, and adoptive brother, Tez Johnson<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

While leading Oregon, Nix played in 27 games and posted a 22-5 record, throwing for 8,101 yards and 74 touchdowns, while adding 780 rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The most notable accomplishments Nix earned at Oregon include being the William V. Campbell trophy winner, a Heisman Trophy finalist, Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year, Associated Press Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year, and CSC Academic All-America first team.<\/span><\/p>\n

Denver Broncos (2024-Present)<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Broncos selected Nix 12th overall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, part of a draft class that saw six quarterbacks taken in the first round, while the last time this happened was 1983.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nix was the last quarterback to go off the board in the first round as Caleb Williams<\/a>, Jayden Daniels<\/a>, Drake Maye<\/a>, Michael Penix Jr.<\/a>, and J.J. McCarthy<\/a> were all selected before him.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In two seasons with Denver, Nix has played in 34 games, posting a 24-10 record under Sean Payton<\/a>, and has thrown for 7,706 yards and 54 touchdowns. Nix has also continued to make use of his dual-threat abilities, with 786 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns so far in his NFL career.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nix almost led the Broncos to the Super Bowl before suffering a season-ending ankle injury<\/a> in a postseason divisional round matchup against the Buffalo Bills<\/a> last season. Denver has made changes to its staff offensively while also trading draft picks for Jaylen Waddle<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nix staying fully healthy next season would be great. At the same time, it would help if the team could find a hidden gem late in the draft at both tight end and running back, which can potentially create an offense with a magnitude that fans in the Mile High City haven\u2019t seen since Peyton Manning<\/a> threw 55 touchdowns in 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
