If they did, can they take the next step forward?

The Mixed Talent that Surrounds Jayden Daniels in 2026

This is a burning question in D.C. right now and it might be a mixed answer heading into 2026. The Commanders have done a solid job of raising the floor, but they have not quite hit the ceiling in terms of blue-chip talent.

Massive Upgrade on the Offensive Line

The biggest win for Jayden Daniels has been the arrival of Laremy Tunsil at left tackle. After a 2025 campaign where Daniels took a lot of hits, having an elite blindside protector is a game changer. Pairing Tunsil with Samuel Cosmi gives Washington a reliable foundation that simply was not there before.

Where are the Play-Makers?

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBanCOm5ig" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3600px; aspect-ratio: 3600/2400;" ></smartframe-embed>

This is where the concern lies. Terry McLaurin remains the baller and the focal point. However, he is now on the wrong side of 30. While the addition of Deebo Samuel brought some versatility, he too is getting older and his production dipped significantly in the year. His future with the team is currently a question mark.

Players like Luke McCaffrey have not quite made the leap yet. Many people believe Washington’s biggest need right now is a secondary high-impact receiver. This may be possible to add in the draft with names like Makai Lemon or Carnell Tate.

Running Back Depth Chart

The team signed veterans Rachaad White and Jerome Ford to provide stability, but they lack a truly dynamic, explosive element. There is a lot of buzz about pairing Daniels with a star prospect like Jeremiyah Love in the draft to create one of the most athletic backfields in the NFL.

Coaching on the Defensive Side of the Ball

With Dan Qunn at the helm and a revamped defensive staff, the goal is to stop the defensive ‘bleeding’ that forced Daniels into so many shootout scenarios last season.
