Still, they added another weapon for quarterback <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2026\/01\/18\/broncos-qb-bo-nix-suffers-season-ending-ankle-injury-in-divisional-round-win\/\" target=\"_self\">Bo Nix<\/a> on offense after the team traded its 2026 first-, third-, and fourth-round draft picks to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/dolphins\/\" target=\"_self\">Miami Dolphins<\/a> in exchange for wide receiver <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2026\/03\/18\/why-jaylen-waddle-is-the-key-to-unlocking-bo-nixs-full-potential\/\" target=\"_self\">Jaylen Waddle<\/a> on March 18. Here\u2019s more information on Denver\u2019s latest addition to its offense.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Episcopal High School (Bellaire, Texas) \u2014 Class of 2018<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Waddle, a native of Houston, Texas, played high school football at Episcopal High School in Bellaire, Texas, and played in three Southwest Preparatory Conference championship games, winning one during his sophomore year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The 5-foot-10, 185-pound wide receiver was a four-star recruit and one of the top-ten players in Texas in his graduating class. Waddle played in the U.S. Army All-American Game and earned a nomination for Army Player of the Year in his senior season, and was also the Touchdown Club of Houston Private Player of the Year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Alabama (2018-2020)<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Waddle chose Alabama and played for <a  href=\"https:\/\/rolltide.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/coaches\/nick-saban\/1436\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nick Saban<\/a>. In his first season with the Crimson Tide, Waddle caught 45 receptions for 848 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 18.8 yards per catch.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The following season, Waddle wasn\u2019t as productive but still averaged 17 yards per catch, while also hauling in 33 receptions for 560 yards and six touchdowns.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In his final season with Alabama, Waddle had his fewest catches but remained effective every time the ball touched his hands, catching 28 receptions for 591 yards and averaging 21.1 yards per catch.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Waddle also excelled on special teams, returning 38 punts for 733 yards and two touchdowns during his three seasons with the Crimson Tide, while also leading the NCAA in punt return yards and average in 2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Miami Dolphins (2021-2025)<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Dolphins drafted Waddle sixth overall in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, reuniting him with quarterback <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2026\/03\/09\/how-tua-tagovailoa-can-redefine-his-career-in-2026\/\" target=\"_self\">Tua Tagovailoa<\/a>, whom Waddle played alongside at Alabama.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Before Miami traded him to Denver, Waddle spent five seasons with the Dolphins, starting in 78 games and catching 373 passes for 5,039 yards and 26 touchdowns, averaging 13.5 yards per catch during the first stage of his NFL career.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Broncos have a lot of depth at wide receiver, as Waddle will play alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2025\/12\/23\/broncos-courtland-sutton-is-on-pace-to-reach-a-milestone\/\" target=\"_self\">Courtland Sutton<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2026\/03\/21\/4-possible-suitors-for-troy-franklin-after-broncos-jaylen-waddle-trade\/\" target=\"_self\">Troy Franklin<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2025\/05\/28\/pat-bryant-dynasty-outlook\/\" target=\"_self\">Pat Bryant<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2025\/08\/31\/marvin-mims-could-be-key-in-unlocking-broncos-offense\/\" target=\"_self\">Marvin Mims Jr.<\/a>, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4039057\/liljordan-humphrey\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lil\u2019Jordan Humphrey<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2022\/08\/21\/michael-bandy-making-case-chargers-roster\/\" target=\"_self\">Michael Bandy<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Waddle can help bring leadership to Denver as he\u2019s a veteran and may be the missing piece the Broncos lacked last season, as he has the opportunity to catch passes
