While the Philadelphia Eagles finished 11-6 to win the NFC East in 2025, the offense was inconsistent.<\/a> This was largely due to their top-five-ranked defense. The offense was 24th overall in total yards, 19th in points (22.3), and was highly predictable. They completed 374 of their third-down conversions, which was an 11% drop from two seasons ago.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite this, the offensive playmakers still managed to hit some individual milestones, which speaks to their pure talent.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Keys to Fixing the Offense of the Philadelphia Eagles<\/h3>\n

The Offense in Review from 2025<\/h4>\n

Quarterback Jalen Hurts<\/a> had respectable stats in 2025. He threw for 3,224 yards, 25 touchdowns, and six interceptions. But he looked uncomfortable in the pocket. Many journalists analyzed the lack of rhythm Hurts generated in the offense.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Running back Saquon Barkley<\/a> ran for 1,140 yards in 2025, but he was clearly not the same player as he was in 2024. He was bottled up by defenses that figured out offensive coordinator Nick Patullo\u2019s predictable inside run scheme. Because of that, Barkley\u2019s efficiency plummeted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith surpassed 1,000 yards, while tight end Dallas Goedert<\/a> set a franchise record for tight ends with 11 touchdowns. But all of this was due to the individual brilliance of the players, rather than the scheme itself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To get the Philadelphia Eagles\u2019 offense back on track for the 2026 season, new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion<\/a> has a clear path on what he must do.<\/span><\/p>\n

Implementing the Shanahan\/McVay Influence<\/h4>\n

Mannion comes from the Green Bay Packers staff, which was led by head coach Matt LaFleur. He spent years in systems influenced by both Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan. Unlike previous seasons, where the run and pass games felt separated, Mannion\u2019s scheme will require them to be in harmony.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Veteran tackle Lane Johnson has already noted a shift towards \u2018wide-zone\u2019 schemes.<\/a> This reduces the number of one-on-one isolation blocks for the linemen.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Rise of the Eagles’ Passing Game<\/h4>\n

The 2025 season saw the Philadelphia Eagles\u2019 pass offense sink towards the bottom of the NFL. A major issue of the previous regime was the lack of one-time throws. Mannion needs to build a playbook that gives Hurts clearer, quicker primary reads to prevent the hero-ball he often plays. Mannion will use more pre-snap motion and condensed formations to create easy completions for the receivers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Optimizing Eagles QB<\/h4>\n

This will be the sixth offensive coordinator for Hurts. But Mannion’s primary task is to bridge the gap between Hurts\u2019 dual-threat instincts and a more structured passing attack.
