The New York Jets have met with a few NFL prospects so far, with notable players including Ohio State’s Arvell Reese, Indiana’s Kaelon Black, and Penn State’s Nic Singleton. He didn’t go far for college as he attended Syracuse for five years before transferring to Penn State for his final year. Yes, that’s a combined six years in college. He was able to compile six years of eligibility because of COVID-19 in 2020 and by using his redshirt year in 2023 because of a season-ending injury. Nagging injuries and being low on the totem pole prevented him from breaking out at Syracuse until 2024.

As the Syracuse passing attack exploded with Kyle McCord under center, Peña did as well. He finished that season with 84 catches on 108 targets for 932 yards and 9 touchdowns. He also had 12 rushing attempts for 85 yards and a rushing touchdown. Subsequently, he was named second-team All-ACC for his play.

Source: Penn State WR Trebor Peña has pre-draft visits lined up with the following teams:

🏈 Jets
🏈 Giants
🏈 Ravens
🏈 Eagles

Peña impressed at PSUs Pro Day.

4.47 40-yard dash
35.5 vertical jump
4.06 shuttle
19 bench press reps

Seems to be trending upwards📈 pic.twitter.com/jFpCglDcWQ

— Arye Pulli (@AryePulliNFL) March 19, 2026

Following that season, Peña surprisingly entered the transfer portal. In the end, he ended up at Penn State. There was a lot of excitement for Penn State going into 2025 after they brought back a number of core players, including QB Drew Allar and RBs Kaytron Allen and Nic Singleton. Unfortunately, things did not go the way they thought they would. Allar suffered a season-ending injury in the middle of the campaign. After falling to Northwestern, they also fired revered coach James Franklin.

This didn’t stop Peña from having a solid year, registering 49 catches on 65 targets for 552 yards and two touchdowns. The Nittany Lions played in the Pinstripe Bowl against Clemson, after which Peña was named the MVP. He had five catches for 100 yards and a touchdown.

WE HAVE MORE POINTS IN THE PINSTRIPE BOWL 🙌

Trebor Pena houses a 73-yard touchdown for Penn State

pic.twitter.com/OTvGgA4FEK

— DraftKings (@DraftKings) December 27, 2025

Peña’s Fit With the New York Jets

Trebor Peña is widely considered a late Day 3 pick in this draft. This does not mean he is incapable of making a roster, though. Peña has experience in multiple distinct offenses from college. In 2024, he was a focal point of one of the highest volume passing offenses in the nation. In 2025, he was a receiving threat in one of the highest-volume rushing offenses in the nation. Couple that with his success on special teams throughout college, and this is a guy who can stick on an NFL roster.

When it comes to the Jets, his role in 2026 would most likely be as a depth wide receiver. The team already features two dynamic returners in Kene Nwangwu and Isaiah Williams. If he sticks around, there’s a chance Peña could break through here as the futures of the aforementioned guys are unknown. In terms of pass catchers, it’s widely expected that the Jets will add another starting wide receiver either via trade or the draft to play alongside Garrett Wilson. Peña’s best chance to climb the depth chart would be through showcasing himself as a run blocker (70.9 PFF run blocking grade in 2025). He may not end up as a Jet, but Trebor Peña is certainly a late-round guy to watch.

The Jets are marching forward with more pre-draft visits.
