This allowed teams to talk to free agents and their representation for the first time. Ultimately, the goal is to agree on a new contract that can then be made official on Wednesday. The Jets started off pretty hot, trading for Minkah Fitzpatrick in the morning and then making a flurry of front-seven signings. Those signings included long-time linebacker Demario Davis, young edge rusher Joseph Ossai, veteran defensive tackle David Onyemata, and the subject of this piece – Kingsley Enagbare. The young EDGE defender from the Packers agreed to a 1 year, $10 million contract with the team today.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBtHiqLBlB" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3600px; aspect-ratio: 3600/2391;" ></smartframe-embed>

Report: Jets Sign Underrated Run Defender From Green Bay

What Enagbare Offers to the Jets

Kingsley Enagbare is far from a household name. He’s not a sack artist like his now-former teammate Micah Parsons. He also wasn’t selected highly in the draft like his new teammate, Will McDonald IV. The reason Enagbare is under the radar is because he did the dirty work for the Packers defense in the run game. Throughout his 4-year stint with the Packers, Kingsley had 57 total “stops” (plays that constituted as a failure for the offense) in the run game. Last season, he had 18, which was 1 more than each of their top EDGE rushers.

This is a skill-set that the Jets desperately needed as well. The Jets allowed the 4th most rushing yards per game (139.5) in 2025. He can come in on early downs/run downs and make an impact. Specifically, he’ll probably take snaps away from Will McDonald IV in this department. This past season, McDonald finished with a PFF run defense grade of 41.4. This is very bad, and something that Kingsley Enagbare will help nullify.

Does This Change the Draft Plans?

The short answer – no. The Jets need someone that can rush the passer (other than Will McDonald IV on occasion). Their signings today have not been long-term answers in this department. As mentioned earlier, Enagbare is much more of a run defender. He only has 13 sacks in his 4-year career. The same goes for Joseph Ossai as well. He only has 15 sacks in his 4-year career (the Jets seem to believe in him based on the price tag, though). The true answer for the Jets pass rush lies with the 2nd overall pick. Ohio State’s Arvell Reese is the favorite, but it could very well be Texas Tech’s David Bailey or Miami’s Rueben Bain Jr. as well.

Check out all around the LWOS Site for the latest on many of the latest free agent signings!

Main Photo: [Dan Powers/USA Today Network-Wisconsin] – Imagn Images

The Jets are taking today to bolster their defensive front.
