It has only been a week, and new Washington Commanders<\/a> Offensive Coordinator David Blough<\/a> is already making waves in Ashburn. For those unfamiliar with Blough, he has only been coaching since 2024. He played for five seasons in the NFL as a quarterback with the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Arizona Cardinals before switching to coaching in 2024. Now as the Commanders’ Offensive Coordinator, he intends to make some big changes to hopefully bring life to an offense that was one of the best in the NFL in the 2024 season.<\/span><\/p>\n

After speaking to local Washington DC news station WUSA9, Blough commented on who he plans to build the offense around.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis thing’s going to be built around how do we get Terry 10 targets a game and get him explosive receptions after explosive receptions to kind of flip the field.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Terry McLaurin<\/a> did not have his best year in 2025, totaling only 582 yards, 38 receptions, and three touchdowns. He also received only 60 targets on the season. In 2024 there were 29 touchdowns, and in 2025 there were only 19. The completion percentage was also down considerably. However, injuries hampered McLaurin in 2025, and it certainly did not help that starting quarterback Jayden Daniels<\/a> missed a large part of the season with injuries. However, McLaurin was not the only one who was lacking in numbers offensively this year. The 2024 vs 2025 difference in passing yards and touchdowns is staggering. In 2024, the total passing yards for the year were over 3,900, whereas in 2025 is 3,300.
