From coaching staff changes to trade rumors, every day seems to have a new headline for the Eagles. Now, two of their star offensive linemen, Landon Dickerson and Lane Johnson, are considering retirement. While Johnson’s retirement wouldn’t be a huge surprise, Dickerson’s would be shocking.

Landon Dickerson and Lane Johnson Reportedly Considering Retirement Amid Eagles Offseason Uncertainty

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBZ8CgPbJy" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 4000px; aspect-ratio: 4000/2641;" ></smartframe-embed>

Early Retirement for Dickerson?

Landon Dickerson was a Pro Bowl guard and a Super Bowl Champion in February of 2025. Now, just 12 months later, his future in football is unclear.

Dickerson has an extensive history of injuries, and they plagued his 2025 season as well. It started in the preseason, as before the Eagles were able to play their first game of the season, Dickerson suffered a meniscus injury to his right knee. While he was available in the Week 1 matchup, it was clear he was not totally healthy. The injuries continued to pile up for him throughout the season. He suffered separate ankle and back injuries throughout the season that limited him.

These injuries are reportedly the reason why Dickerson is contemplating retirement, and it is understandable that he is considering it.

An offseason of significant change for the #Eagles could include G Landon Dickerson‘s uncertain future. @Jeff_McLane mentions here Dickerson’s no certainty to return. The talent was never in question. Dickerson spent time at Florida State University and the University of Alabama. He suffered a torn ACL while at both schools, one in each knee. Dickerson also sustained multiple ankle injuries throughout his collegiate play.

Since joining the Eagles, Dickerson has been impressively durable, though. From 2022 to 2024, he only missed one game due to injury. Hopefully for Landon Dickerson and the Eagles, he is able to fully recover and avoid early retirement.

Johnson Calling it a Career?

The other star offensive lineman contemplating retirement for the Eagles is less of a surprise. Lane Johnson, currently 35 years old, just completed his 13th season in the NFL. Similar to Dickerson, Johnson has been dealing with injuries as well.

Johnson suffered a Lisfranc injury in the Eagles’ Week 11 matchup against the Detroit Lions. Despite multiple reports anticipating his return, Johnson would not suit up again in the 2025 season. Johnson has been open about his retirement, publicly stating he is taking things year by year. As of August 2024, he speculated that he would play two to three more seasons.

The departure of Jeff Stoutland from the Eagles’ offensive staff is another piece that could affect Johnson’s decision. Stoutland and Johnson both joined the Eagles in 2013, each spending 13 seasons with the team. He is the only offensive line coach that Johnson has ever played for. Without him in the building, its possible Johnson feels less compelled to continue playing, especially as the injuries start to pile up and it becomes more difficult to rehab. While Stoutland’s departure could also factor into Dickerson’s decision, it would likely be a bigger factor for Johnson given their history together.

Lane Johnson’s motivation for continuing likely comes down to continuing to build his Hall of Fame resume. Johnson currently has a compelling case, but returning could strengthen it even further.

Amid an offseason of uncertainty, the Eagles offense could have even more questions if they are forced to replace two of their star offensive lineman.

Landon Dickerson and Lane Johnson are both reportedly considering retirement amid Eagles offseason uncertainty.

[21
8041,1189
post-264720","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-eagles","tag-landon-dickerson","tag-lane-johnson
["GET
