The important factor to note here is the new offensive coordinator, Frank Reich. Looking into his body of work, he’s predominantly worked with the pocket passer archetype of QB. Some of his QB’s throughout his coaching career include Philip Rivers, Carson Wentz, Nick Foles, Jacoby Brissett, and Matt Ryan. All of these players are tall in stature and stay within the pocket for the most part. During his most recent season coaching at the NFL level, he worked with Bryce Young on the Carolina Panthers, who stands at only 5’10”. Their pairing didn’t work at all. The archetype will matter for Frank Reich and the Jets. Based on those prerequisites, here are three potential options.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBJiLNVPIn" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3677px; aspect-ratio: 3677/2451;" ></smartframe-embed>

Jacoby Brissett – Arizona Cardinals

A lot of the talk about the Cardinals quarterback room this offseason has been about Kyler Murray. However, with the hiring of Frank Reich, this is most likely no longer realistic for the Jets. Instead, the Jets could target Murray’s backup from 2025, Jacoby Brissett.

Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett could be a potential trade target for the Jets, says @Connor_J_Hughes #JetUp

Thoughts? pic.twitter.com/45tkPkK09R

— Jets Roundtable 🟢 (@JetsRoundtable) February 4, 2026

Firstly, Brissett has worked with Frank Reich previously in Indianapolis. His familiarity with Reich’s scheme would be invaluable. He’s a good fit as well, as he fits that pocket passer archetype that Reich will most likely be looking for. Brissett has shown that he can still sling it as well, throwing 23 touchdown passes to only 8 interceptions in 2025. There’s context to these statistics, though, as the Cardinals were trailing a lot last season, leading to inflated passing numbers. Despite that, Brissett is still a solid bridge option that could help develop a rookie quarterback or lead them to one in 2027.

The caveat to this is that the Jets would have to trade for the 33-year-old quarterback. He still has another year on his contract with Arizona. The Jets are set up for this, though, as they have two 5th-round compensatory selections in this year’s draft. One of those picks should be good enough to get the job done.

Will Levis – Tennessee Titans

Will Levis is one of the most intriguing options potentially available this offseason. One of the stories of the NFL over the last couple of years has been reclamation projects at quarterback. The frontrunners of this concept have been Geno Smith and Sam Darnold, who both had rough starts to their careers but have since turned it around for a period of time. Darnold, in particular, has turned it around all the way to a Super Bowl appearance this Sunday. Now, everyone is looking for the next player to rewrite their story. Perhaps it’s Will Levis.

Levis was selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Titans. He struggled in 2023 and 2024, leading the Titans to select Cam Ward with the first overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. Since then, Levis had surgery on his shoulder and was out for the entirety of the 2025 season. Ward is cemented as the future in Tennessee, so it would make sense that Levis is available via trade. He fits the mold of a Frank Reich QB with some athletic upside on top. It would be a low risk-high reward type of move for the Jets in what is most likely a transition year anyway. This would make a ton of sense.

Drew Allar – Penn State

Shifting focus to the 2026 NFL Draft, the Jets could still attempt to select a quarterback despite missing out on the first overall pick. Looking through some of the prospects, not many fit the bill in terms of stature for a Frank Reich type of quarterback. One that does – Drew Allar. Allar, according to Penn State’s website (unofficial), stands at 6’5″. This is the type of height that Frank Reich is used to working with. In terms of production, Allar was a three-year starter at Penn State. In his two healthy seasons (2023 and 2024), he had a total of 5,924 passing yards, 49 passing touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Unfortunately, he suffered a season-ending broken ankle in 2025 after just 6 games. Said injury will most likely tank his draft stock to Day 3.

The potential caveat here is that his success on the Jets would depend heavily on Frank Reich’s and the eventual QB coach’s ability to develop him. Reich has not shown much prowess in developing QB talent lately. As mentioned earlier, things did not work out between him and Bryce Young in Carolina. Perhaps with a QB more tailored to succeed in his system, like Allar, things could change. A low risk-high reward swing on Drew Allar on Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft would be a solid move.

Main Photo: [Gary A.
