Many fans were relieved to receive this notification, but it may not mean that Patullo’s time in Philadelphia is over.

The wording officially used by the Eagles in their press release was that they are “making a change” at offensive coordinator, meaning Patullo has not officially been fired, yet. This could leave the door open to a potential return for Patullo. This was echoed by NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo after the news initially broke.

The phrasing is important here and in the #Eagles’ statement. Kevin Patullo is not fired. There’s a chance he could remain on Nick Sirianni’s coaching staff, sources say. https://t.co/vdQ9x0sJk1

— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) January 13, 2026

He could fall back into his previous title as the team’s passing game coordinator, or take on another role within the offense. Although Patullo was in over his head as offensive coordinator, he was a contributor on the Super Bowl-winning staff. Patullo seems to be liked by the players as well. He has been Sirianni’s right-hand man ever since he took over as head coach. It would make sense why Sirianni would want him to remain on the staff, even if it is in a reduced role.

Offensive Coordinator Candidates Emerge

It did not take very long for rumors to circulate about who the Eagles’ next offensive coordinators would be. The talent available, combined with multiple former Eagles coordinators using the position to land a head coaching job, makes this a coveted offensive coordinator role.

The Eagles will reportedly be going after a “proven offensive mind.” This is very similar to the Eagles’ approach before the 2024 season, when they hired Kellen Moore. Two candidates have emerged, though, and would be blockbuster additions to the coaching staff.

Kliff Kingsbury and Kevin Stefanski

Kliff Kingsbury and Kevin Stefanski have emerged as early candidates for the Eagles’ offensive coordinator. This lines up with the previous report of the Eagles looking for someone who is proven. Both have experience as offensive coordinators and as head coaches.

A league source said Kliff Kingsbury (a runner up when the team hired Kellen Moore) & Kevin Stefanski will "get a real look" for the #Eagles offensive coordinator position–among other options–assuming head coach signings don't supersede the team's vacancy. pic.twitter.com/LDUfo1kUGT

— JosinaAnderson (@JosinaAnderson) January 14, 2026

Kingsbury spent the past two seasons with the Washington Commanders, serving as their offensive coordinator and play caller. Washington’s offense had great success under him, specifically with Jayden Daniels having a breakout rookie season. Kingsbury was also in the running with the Eagles in 2024 before the team hired Moore. After previously finishing as the runner-up, Kingsbury may finally get his opportunity with the Eagles.

Stefanski is another interesting option for the Eagles. A two-time Coach of the Year, Stefanski is one of the most respected coaches in the league. Stefanski spent the previous six seasons as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns.

Both candidates are currently interviewing for other positions around the league, including head coaching jobs. It is very early in the Eagles’ search for a new offensive coordinator. Other names will appear in the search as time passes. Nevertheless, the Eagles clearly know what they are looking for from their future offensive coordinator.

Main Photo Credit: Bill Streicher-Imagn Images

Eagles Offensive Coordinator Kevin Patullo was officially fired Tuesday, as the Eagles began their search with a couple unexpected names.

[21,36,6431
33904,246,7393
post-262774","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-eagles","category-nfl-news","category-nfl-teams","tag-kevin-patullo","tag-nfl-news","tag-philadelphia-eagles-news
["GET
