The Dallas Cowboys<\/a> (7-9-1), Washington Commanders<\/a>, and New York Giants<\/a> (4-13) will all now begin their offseason as they look to retool for 2026. With the 2025 NFL regular season now behind us, let\u2019s dig into the Week 18 NFC East Takeaways.<\/p>\n

Wrap-Up for Week 18 in the NFC East<\/h2>\n

The Philadelphia Eagles coasted on Sunday<\/h4>\n

The Philadelphia Eagles had a chance to finish as the No. 2 seed in the NFC, but they chose to rest their starters on Sunday and lost to the Washington Commanders by a score of 24-17. The Eagles will now host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon in what should be a tough home game for the defending champs.<\/p>\n

The Eagles had a season of streaks<\/h4>\n

The Eagles had a strange season that included two win streaks of four games and one win streak of three games, while also having a losing streak of three games and two stretches with back-to-back losses. While the Eagles don\u2019t look dominant coming into the playoffs, there isn\u2019t really one standout team in the NFC, so they still have a decent chance to get back to the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

The Dallas Cowboys couldn\u2019t finish strong<\/h4>\n

The Dallas Cowboys were looking to finish at .500 after a tough season, but were unable to beat the New York Giants on the road as they lost 34-17 on Sunday. While the Cowboys fell to 7-9-1 with the loss, they also took Dak Prescott out of the game in the first half, so it\u2019s possible the Cowboys were protecting their draft position. In addition to focusing on the draft, the Cowboys have some big decisions to make with their own free agents<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dak Prescott had a great season<\/h4>\n

While it was largely wasted on a 7-9-1 team, the Cowboys\u2019 offense had a great season. Dak Prescott threw for 4,552 passing yards and 30 touchdowns, Javonte Williams surpassed 1,200 rushing yards, and both CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens racked up more than 1,000 receiving yards. While their defense didn\u2019t fare quite as well, the Cowboys\u2019 offense had a fantastic 2025 season.<\/p>\n

The Washington Commanders finished on a high note<\/h4>\n

While the Washington Commanders didn\u2019t have the season they wanted after making it to the NFC Championship Game last season, they won their last game of the year by taking down the Eagles 24-17. The win came against the Eagles\u2019 backups, but it still counts and was a great way for the Commanders to try to build some momentum heading into 2026.<\/p>\n

The Commanders have a lot of things to figure out<\/h4>\n

The Commanders\u2019 2025 was marred by some unfortunate injuries (especially to franchise quarterback Jayden Daniels), but they also have a lot of holes on their roster. They\u2019ll have a top-10 pick to work with in the 2026 NFL Draft and will now look to solidify both of their lines as they look to keep Daniels upright next season.<\/p>\n

The Giants end the season on a win streak<\/h4>\n

The New York Giants had the worst record in the NFL heading into Week 17, but are now 4-13 after winning the last two games of the season. While Giants\u2019 fans may not be too happy about that, as the Giants fell from having the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to having the No. 5 pick, the team now has some positive momentum heading into next season.<\/p>\n

Jaxson Dart had a great Week 18<\/h4>\n

Jaxson Dart has looked the part of a franchise quarterback for much of 2025, and Week 18 might have been his best performance yet as he put up 230 passing yards, 32 rushing yards, and two passing touchdowns. While the Giants have holes to fill in the 2026 NFL Draft, they won\u2019t have to worry about finding a quarterback.<\/p>\n
