From a talent standpoint, the New York Jets aren’t exactly close to contending. That being said, they own five first-round picks over the next two drafts. Suffice to say, they have the draft capital to get a trade done. The Jets also have a massive need at quarterback. They’ve struggled with Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor, and Brady Cook under center this season. Not only would Jackson give the Jets a much-needed boost at the quarterback position, he’d have the fans feeling hopeful heading into the 2026 season.”

The Jets desperately need a franchise quarterback, which is what Lamar Jackson is. Mandatory Credit: Brad Rempel-Imagn Images

Lamar Jackson spent three years with the Louisville Cardinals, winning the Heisman Trophy as a sophomore. He was subsequently drafted by the Baltimore Ravens 32nd overall in 2018. During his rookie year in Baltimore, Jackson became the starting quarterback after an injury to Joe Flacco. He guided the team to the postseason that year.

Jackson was named the league’s MVP the following season. He threw for 3,127 yards, 36 touchdowns, and six interceptions that year. The Florida native also rushed for 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns.

In 2023, Jackson won the second MVP of his career. He threw for 3,678 yards and 24 touchdowns while rushing for 821 yards and five scores. But more importantly, he powered the Ravens to a league-best 13-4 record.

Jackson has battled injuries over the years. However, he continues to be one of the league’s top quarterbacks when healthy.

The Jets Really Need a Quarterback

The Jets haven’t had a superstar quarterback in a long time and have failed to make the playoffs since 2010. They signed Justin Fields last offseason. However, he has struggled mightily this year. He was benched for Tyrod Taylor and was eventually shut down for the rest of the season due to a knee injury. Meanwhile, Taylor is now backing up the undrafted Brady Cook.

Again, the Jets really need a quarterback. Lamar Jackson can be that guy. He’s a two-time MVP, a three-time First-Team All-Pro, and a four-time Pro Bowler. No doubt about it, he’d be a major upgrade over any signal-caller on the Jets’ roster.

Thanks to trading cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, the Jets now possess a lucrative supply of draft capital. That means they have what it takes to make an appealing trade offer for Jackson. If the Ravens end up trading him, don’t be surprised to see him land in New York.

Main Image: Peter Casey – Imagn Images

The New York Jets were listed as a potential landing spot for Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson.

[6431,6
1056,7330
post-260395","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-teams","category-jets","tag-lamar-jackson","tag-new-york-jets-news
["GET
