Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is battling a concussion and, while he hasn’t been officially ruled out for Week 16’s showdown against the Tennessee Titans<\/a>, it doesn’t look good. The third-year wideout missed practice on Thursday and is running out of time to clear the protocol. Given the severity of the head injury and the fact that Kansas City’s season is effectively over, nobody should be surprised if he misses the upcoming contest.<\/p>\n

Rashee Rice Injury Update: Chiefs WR Likely to Miss Week 16 With Concussion<\/h2>\n

The Rashee Rice concussion is just the latest piece of bad news in a season to forget for Kansas City. While Rice missing time is noteworthy by itself, the receiver’s injury is vastly overshadowed by his star quarterback. Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL<\/a> in the final minutes against the Los Angeles Chargers last week and is out for the season. While he will try to return for Week 1<\/a> next year, it’s hard for Chiefs fans to feel positive, especially after being eliminated from playoff contention.<\/p>\n

Rashee Rice has been the focal point of the offense since returning from his suspension at the start of the year. While on the field, the former second-round pick has recorded 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns and has easily been the most reliable part of this passing attack. Nobody knows how he’ll do with veteran Gardner Minshew replacing Mahomes under center, but it appears as though we’ll have to wait another week to find out.<\/p>\n

Minshew is no Mahomes, but the former sixth-round pick has established himself as one of the league’s better backup quarterbacks. Since entering the league, the seven-year veteran has completed 63.3% of his passes for 11,972 yards, 68 touchdowns, and 35 interceptions.<\/p>\n
