A.J. Brown trade rumors<\/a> have been circulating for months now after a headline-filled 2025 season. The Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>‘ All-Pro wide receiver has had a down year by his standards, along with drama stemming from comments made throughout the season. According to several league executives, the Eagles could look to trade Brown this offseason as a result.<\/div>\n

A.J. Brown Trade Possibility<\/h2>\n
Trade rumors for Brown started to circulate close to the NFL’s trade deadline, although nothing ever came to fruition. The Eagles shut down teams inquiring about their star wide receiver. It turns out, though, that the Eagles’ answer may have been “not right now” instead of “no”.<\/div>\n

ESPN Insider Jeremy Fowler recently had this to say when asked about the offseason’s most interesting trade candidates<\/a>:<\/div>\n

“I have several candidates, but let’s start with\u00a0A.J. Brown. The weekly concerns about Brown’s messaging — from\u00a0sonnets to sound bites — must be taxing on Philadelphia’s locker room, even if players understand the receiver’s frustration due to the limitations of the Eagles’ passing attack. Several executives I spoke to believe the Eagles could look to move Brown, who is 28 and still has prime years left.<\/em><\/p>\n

He would undoubtedly have a market. He’s due $50 million in cash over the next two years, which is manageable for a WR1. The Eagles would absorb a $20 million cap hit if he’s traded before June 1, or they could save $7 million on the cap by waiting until after June 1 to deal him. Either way, the Eagles have shown cap challenges won’t deter them (see: the\u00a0Carson Wentz\u00a0trade). And it seems that Brown would welcome a new passing game at this point.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

Eagles Perspective<\/h3>\n

On one hand, Fowler raises some good points. Brown has seemingly been a distraction for the locker room at times this season. His comments after games<\/a> often loomed larger than the game’s result itself. There have been times when the offense seems like it prioritizes involving Brown at the detriment of the offense overall. On top of that, Brown’s trade value would likely never be higher than it currently is. He is still only 28 years old and is under contract for four seasons after 2025. The Eagles could cash in with premium draft capital and allow DeVonta Smith<\/a> to emerge as the team’s number one wide receiver.<\/div>\n

Conversely, the Eagles<\/a> trading one of their best players while in the midst of a championship window would be foolish. Even though Brown’s comments have been a distraction at times, everything he has been saying has been true. The passing game has struggled throughout the season, as he has mentioned. The offensive approach as a whole has been conservative, as he has mentioned. He certainly brings more positive than negative to Philadelphia. He is still one of football’s elite wide receivers. For the Eagles to have a championship-level offense for years to come, having Brown on the roster will certainly make that easier. The offense showing some signs of life as of late, with Brown being a major part, confirms this.<\/div>\n

It remains to be seen how the Eagles will handle this situation. There is a compelling argument to be made for both sides. Only time will tell if an A.J. Brown trade will ever come to fruition.<\/div>\n
