Tweaking the Engine after Baker Mayfield’s Injury<\/h2>\n

You don\u2019t just plug and play when your starting quarterback goes down. And Todd Bowles was crystal clear about the necessary adjustments. He stated the offense will need a recalibration for veteran Teddy Bridgewater if he is to start. “Well, he’s a different quarterback,”<\/em> Bowles explained. “So schematically, we’ll have to do some different things for him to make him feel comfortable within the offense and do a lot of things that he likes to do.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Baker Mayfield’s MRI gives hope<\/a>. But Bucs’ game plan may favor Bridgewater\u2019s strengths now. Bowles emphasized making him “feel comfortable within the offense.”<\/em> That probably means a greater emphasis on quicker throws and managed reads. Bowles also confirmed the severity of Baker Mayfield’s injury on Monday. “When he came off the field and you kind of knew something happened right there,”<\/em> the HC said. Meanwhile, Bridgewater flew in from Miami on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

He attended a funeral before the game. Teddy completed 8 of 15 passes for 62 yards. He took two sacks. The Rams defense smelled blood<\/a>. They attacked relentlessly.
