Aiyuk is set to leave the team after failing to report to team meetings and activities, so the “lack of communication” has been frustrating for the 49ers. San Francisco might be having a solid season of 7-4, but they have to deal with this upcoming offseason.

Possible Landing Spots for Disgruntled 49ers Star Brandon Aiyuk Amid Contract Drama

Originally signing a four-year, $120 million contract, the star hasn’t been able to back up his presence on the field. Even though he had a breakout season in 2023, recording 75 catches for 1,342 receiving yards while hauling in seven touchdowns, he’s been quiet. After tearing his ACL last season, he hasn’t appeared in a regular-season game this year, but the contract implications might motivate Aiyuk to sit out.

However, the wide receiver isn’t done. The 27-year-old earned honors for his 2023 performance and is still expected to have a strong market this upcoming offseason.

1. Dallas Cowboys

At 5-5-1, the Dallas Cowboys are fighting for a wild-card spot. However, they might have drama on their hands as well this upcoming offseason. George Pickens has turned into one of the better receivers on their roster this year, but if they can’t retain him, they might have to look into signing Aiyuk. This is a long shot, as Jerry Jones has dealt with a drama-filled Micah Parsons situation with Green Bay on defense.

However, Jones could always stir the pot. Pickens didn’t have the best departure in Pittsburgh, but ensured that he maintained his attitude in Dallas. Perhaps, they could find something in Aiyuk. Dallas won’t sign him to a long-term deal, but the Cowboys could sign him, along with retaining Pickens, while still having CeeDee Lamb.

Nov 17, 2025; Paradise, Nevada, USA; Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens (3) reacts towards the stands as he leaves the field following a game against the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium. Carolina Panthers

The future is bright in Carolina, and head coach Dave Canales could continue to salvage the offensive pass-attack for Bryce Young. Rookie Tetairoa McMillan is the WR1 for the future, but they need a true veteran presence in their receiving corps. Even if the Panthers miss the wild-card this season, they have a lot to look forward to next year.

After strengthening the defense this past offseason, the Panthers could sign Aiyuk to a solid contract and pair him with McMillan, Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker as the new Mt. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers will likely make the playoffs this season, barring any unforeseen circumstances that result in them losing several games for the rest of the way.
