Selected early in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Arizona State product quickly became one of the best players on a loaded 49ers roster and earned a four-year, $120 million contract extension prior to the 2024 season. Unfortunately, the wheels soon fell off the wagon, as he tore his ACL seven games after signing the massive deal.

Now, it appears as though Brandon Aiyuk will never play another down for his current team. The wide receiver spent the year recovering from his knee injury and, according to reports, missed meetings and team activities throughout the season. This led to the 49ers voiding the guaranteed money in Aiyuk’s contract, and Aiyuk has reportedly told the NFLPA not to fight the team on this decision.

Top 5 Brandon Aiyuk Team Fits, Ranked

Things got ugly real fast between Brandon Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers, but he will have a chance to redeem himself next year. While this stunt will almost certainly cost him a good chunk of change, one of the following five teams should be interested in signing him next year.

Main Photo: D. Tennessee Titans

Statistically speaking, Cam Ward’s rookie season has not gone well, but you can’t blame the first-overall pick for failing to produce in a disastrous environment. The Tennessee Titans have arguably the league’s worst combination of skill position players, coaching, and offensive line talent, and it’s made it impossible for Ward to reach his ceiling. While the quarterback is the most important part of any rebuild, nobody can succeed without a little bit of support.

Brandon Aiyuk won’t singlehandedly fix this team, but he’d easily be the best weapon on this roster. Additionally, the Tennessee Titans are projected to have over $108 million in cap space next year, so signing Aiyuk won’t prevent them from updating the rest of the roster. Cam Ward may or may not be a franchise quarterback, but the Titans will never know for sure until they give him the tools to succeed.

Oct 26, 2025; Indianapolis, Indiana, USA; Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward (1) hands the ball off to Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard (20) during the first quarter during the first quarter against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Baltimore Ravens

Over the past few years, the Baltimore Ravens have routinely tried to squeeze one or two good seasons out of aging veterans. Whether it’s Odell Beckham or DeAndre Hopkins, the Ravens have always tried to add a veteran to complement first-round pick Zay Flowers. Next year, however, they could aim for a player with a higher ceiling.

Brandon Aiyuk has been around a while, but he’ll only be 28 next year. Assuming he properly recovers from his knee injury, the veteran should have plenty of gas left in his tank and be more than capable of being the second option in this passing attack. With tight end Mark Andrews getting older and potentially leaving as a free agent, somebody must step up opposite Flowers and become a go-to option for Lamar Jackson.

Nov 9, 2025; Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (8) leaves the field after the game against the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium. Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have a weak group of wide receivers, and the lack of talent at the position means they cannot win games without Josh Allen looking like a superhero. While Khalil Shakir is a solid slot option, players like Curtis Samuel are too old to be anything more than a depth receiver, and 2024 second-round pick Keon Coleman is routinely a healthy scratch. Seeing as the New England Patriots should be a legitimate threat in the division as long as Drake Maye is under center, Buffalo must do something to improve the offense.

That something could be adding Brandon Aiyuk to the team next year. The 49ers wide recevier would easily be the team’s best set of hands since Stefon Diggs departed, and he should have Allen returning to his MVP level in no time.

Nov 16, 2025; Orchard Park, New York, USA; Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (17) runs the ball for a touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the second half of the game at Highmark Stadium. Carolina Panthers

Don’t look now, but the Carolina Panthers are 6-5 and just a half game behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the race for the NFC South. The jury is still out on whether or not Bryce Young is a legitimate franchise quarterback, but he’s improved every year, and head coach Dave Canales has this roster playing to the best of its abilities.

The rebuild is working, and the team could continue to improve next year by signing Brandon Aiyuk. First-round pick Tetairoa McMillan has been everything the team could have hoped for, and fellow youngsters Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker appear to be reliable depth pieces. However, they could use a proven veteran to take the unit over the top, and Aiyuk is an ideal choice for the job.

Nov 16, 2025; Atlanta, Georgia, USA; Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young (9) reacts to a touchdown in the fourth quarter against the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. New England Patriots

The New England Patriots spent the past two seasons trying to get Brandon Aiyuk on the team. While their efforts were ultimately in vain, they could finally reach their goal in 2026. Aiyuk never wanted to join the Patriots, which is why he reportedly shot down trade offers in 2024 and 2025. However, the emergence of Drake Maye could get him to change his mind.

After a promising rookie season, the UNC product has taken the Year 2 leap to establish himself as one of the game’s premier talents. Playing at an MVP level, Maye has the Patriots firmly atop the AFC East and is tied with the Colts and Broncos for the best record in the conference.
