Last week, Josh Allen showed us all why he’s been the resident top dog ever in almost every edition of our quarterback rankings. We keep him there because his talent and involvement in his team’s offense as both a passer and short-yardage rusher give him a much higher scoring floor than the rest of the options at quarterback.<\/p>\n

Last Sunday, he showed us what that ceiling looks like when he put up 317 passing yards, 40 rushing yards, and 6 combined touchdowns, accumulating almost 50 fantasy points for the week. Will he still be our top choice this week as he takes on the top defense in the league?<\/p>\n

Let’s take a look at our rankings of the top 10 fantasy quarterbacks for Week 10 and find out where Allen falls and what other options have made our list.<\/p>\n

Before we get to the top 10, there are a couple of waiver wire options that missed our list but make for intriguing plays if you need to find a bye week replacement for either Bo Nix or Justin Herbert (or Tua or Marcus Mariota for deeper league players). Jacoby Brissett, fresh off a record-setting week, is slated to take on Jacksonville<\/a> and their #28-ranked pass defense, and Mason Rudolph, who is slated to start for Pittsburgh<\/a> in place of Aaron Rodgers (left wrist fracture), will face the Bears and their #29-ranked secondary.<\/p>\n

Week 12 Quarterback Rankings<\/h2>\n

1) Josh Allen vs. Houston<\/h3>\n

Surprise! I still have him at #1 despite the less-than-ideal matchup on a short week. The Texans<\/a> defense is ranked #1 overall, #3 against the pass, #3 against the run, and #1 DVOA against the quarterback position in fantasy. This is as bad as matchups get, and I still can’t move him from this top spot. It would seem Allen’s only kryptonite is an opponent that isn’t able to score, since the only times this season that he didn’t score north of 20 fantasy points were when the Bills<\/a> defense dominated both the Jets and Falcons.<\/p>\n

The Bills defense hasn’t been dominating many teams lately, and despite the fact that Houston is starting Davis Mills again, the Texans should still score enough points to keep Buffalo in attack mode for enough of the game for Allen to do damage. He won’t likely pile up the passing yards in this game, but if he adds to his season total of 10 rushing touchdowns, he should finish the week safely as a top 10 option.<\/p>\n

2) Jalen Hurts vs. Dallas<\/h3>\n

Hurts has been a disappointment over the last two contests, failing to top 15 fantasy points in either matchup against the Packers<\/a> and Lions<\/a>. The Cowboys<\/a> defense looked much improved in their first game after their bye week, which was also their first game with new additions Quinnen Williams and Logan Wilson. That game was against the Raiders<\/a>, so we aren’t quite sure if the improvement will carry forward against tougher competition. When these two teams faced off on opening night, Hurts was able to score 24+ fantasy points thanks to 62 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns on the ground. The Eagle defense has been one of the best in the league lately, and this game could devolve into a defensive battle, but I think it will be a higher-scoring affair in the temperature-controlled environment of Jerry World.<\/p>\n

3) Lamar Jackson vs. The Jets<\/h3>\n

The Jets<\/a> aren’t going to score very many points, so Lamar won’t need to do a whole lot for Baltimore<\/a> to hold serve at home and get the W this Sunday. I was tempted to move him down this list a bit after last week’s sub-10-point performance against Cleveland, but I resisted that temptation due to the fact that I firmly believe the Ravens are going to want to beat the brakes off of somebody. They should have dominated the Browns last week, but the game stayed close thanks to the Browns<\/a> defense holding down Lamar and forcing turnovers that resulted in 10 early points. If the Ravens want to win this division and go deep in the playoffs, they are going to have to figure their offense out, specifically as it pertains to their quarterback. Is Lamar going to be a running quarterback ever again? Will he develop into a classic drop-back passer? I expect Todd Monken to figure that out starting this week and expect Lamar to have a solid fantasy game in the process. This very well could be another 4-touchdown passing day for Jackson.<\/p>\n

4) Drake Maye vs. Cincinnati<\/h3>\n

Maye really should be in the top 3. If you have him as well as one of the top 3 options on your roster, I have no problem at all if you choose to go with the young Patriots<\/a> QB this weekend. The matchup against the Bengals is just too good to pass up, and he should easily coast to a 20+ fantasy point day. The only reasons I held him back a bit are 1) they may win the game so handily that the running backs are the ones who pile up the fantasy production, and 2) Maye hasn’t scored more than 20 fantasy points in the last three games. The fact that Ja’Marr Chase will miss this contest after being suspended will actually hurt Maye’s fantasy day as well. The points are there for him this weekend; it just comes down to whether or not he will be needed to score them.<\/p>\n

5) Patrick Mahomes vs. Indianapolis<\/h3>\n

Mahomes has been awful for two straight games now. Over the Chiefs<\/a>‘ last two games, their QB1 has a stat line of 44 completions in 79 attempts (56%) for 1 touchdown with 2 interceptions. His involvement in the running game also evaporated as he only had a total of 8 rushing yards on 2 carries over that same span. This came after 3 straight games with 3 passing touchdowns, and an average of 30 yards rushing per game. It should come as no surprise that the Chiefs lost both of those matchups, but this week they get to return home to lick their wounds. The matchup is a tough one, and Kansas City is going to need an A+ performance from Mahomes to beat the Colts<\/a> and their improved pass defense. Mahomes is fully healthy, so I expect him to bounce back and give his fantasy managers the type of game they have grown accustomed to this season.<\/p>\n

6) Jared Goff vs. Giants<\/h3>\n

He’s back home this week after a miserable showing on the road in Philadelphia last Sunday night. The home\/road game with Goff hasn’t been perfect this season as he’s had a couple of lemons at home against Tampa<\/a> and Cleveland, but this matchup is pretty juicy. I love playing Goff and any Lions player I can, following a loss, especially when they take on a weak opponent. The Giants<\/a> qualify as they have the #29 overall defense in the league and are ranked #30 DVOA against the QB position. Look for Dan Campbell to try and run up the score against his former team.<\/p>\n

7) Baker Mayfield vs. Rams<\/h3>\n

Baker did what he could last week to keep the Bucs in the game against Buffalo. The passing game wasn’t quite there against the Bills’ #2-ranked pass defense, but he was able to use his legs and rewarded his fantasy managers with 17.8 fantasy points. The Rams<\/a> defense isn’t a great matchup, but they are weaker against the pass than they are against the run, and Baker is going to have to throw the ball if Tampa is going to have a chance this Sunday. I think the Bucs have a shot to take this game after two straight losses, and I expect Baker to be in the middle of any Tampa scoring plays. I’m not holding my breath for either Chris Godwin or Bucky Irving to return, but apparently, they are both “ramping up” in preparation for an imminent return. With or without the talented duo, Baker will get us enough fantasy points to be a top 10 option for the week.<\/p>\n

8) Matthew Stafford vs. Tampa Bay<\/h3>\n

Stafford had a down week against Seattle<\/a>, which means this is a great week to get him in your lineup. He’s been up and down all year, sprinkling in the occasional dud after two or three elite performances. This was only his second game since Week 3 that he failed to score 15 fantasy points. The last time he had an off game was in week 6 against the Ravens, and he followed that up with over 27 points against Jacksonville. I expect a similar bounce back against the Bucs and their #27-ranked defense against the pass.<\/p>\n

9) Caleb Williams vs. Pittsburgh<\/h3>\n

Another bounce-back candidate, Williams struggled last week against the Vikings<\/a>, ending the day with just over 10 fantasy points, which made him the QB21 for the week. This was especially disappointing since he was coming off two consecutive top 10 weeks, and it seemed like he was ready to take a big step forward as both a passer and a runner. The one concern with Williams will always be the weather conditions at home late in the season. Wind is the #1 concern when playing quarterbacks and receivers, and any time the wind is over 15 mph, we should be concerned. As of now, there is a slight chance of rain for this Sunday, but no high winds (which can obviously change, considering the city’s nickname). Williams has a great matchup against the Steelers and their pass defense, which has been entrenched at #32 for most of this season.<\/p>\n

10) Dak Prescott vs. Philadelphia<\/h3>\n

Dak will have to throw it early and often if the Cowboys are going to stay in this game at home with Philadelphia. Dak has posted 20+ fantasy points in 6 of his 10 starts and can be prone to bad games against elite defenses. In fact, he was held to under 10 points twice this year, and one of those was on opening night against this same Eagle defense. The volume will be there, and he has all of his weapons healthy, so I expect him to lead at least a couple of touchdown drives this weekend, and he should flirt with 20 fantasy points.<\/p>\n
