The 2025 season hasn’t gone as planned for the Kansas City Chiefs since the team is oddly 5-5 and chances of a playoff in January are decreasing, but the offseason doesn’t look good for free agent Travis Kelce. The veteran is one of the several top free agents who will become available in March.<\/a> The Chiefs will likely need to think about the idea of letting their formidable tight end walk to a new market, despite him trending down to being an inconsistent playmaker in recent memory. There’s still a decent chance, but the loss to the Denver Broncos this past weekend has put them in a hole, and they’re no longer guaranteed a postseason spot.<\/p>\n

Catastrophic Chiefs’ 2025 Season May Signal Massive Free Agent Travis Kelce Departure – 3 Potential Dream Teams<\/h2>\n

At age 36, the tight end did get engaged to pop star Taylor Swift<\/a>, so there’s a possibility that he could begin his new life beyond the gridiron. However, there’s still a good chance for him to play in the league if he still wants to. Last Super Bowl, it didn’t go the way that Kelce wanted, so it’d be a shocker if he decides to join another team to achieve that fulfillment. If that’s the case, here are three possible landing spots for the veteran if it becomes a decision to mutually part ways with Kansas City.<\/p>\n

1. Los Angeles Chargers<\/h3>\n

The 2025 offseason from the Los Angeles Chargers taught everyone that they value the tight end position. After signing Tyler Conklin to a one-year deal for depth<\/a>, things haven’t panned out for the veteran. Rising talent Oronde Gadsden<\/a> has emerged atop the depth chart, which could spell the end for both Conklin and Will Dissly. However, the Chargers need experience if they want to make a true deep run in the postseason.<\/p>\n

Justin Herbert is on fire and isn’t looking to slow down from his arm of a missile. If Kelce can hold up for one more season, he could turn into one of Jim Harbaugh’s shocking investments and probably one of the most sudden departures in Kansas City history.<\/p>\n

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/h3>\n

It wouldn’t be the first time that a generational tight end joined Tampa Bay to cap off his NFL career. Kelce is his own armada compared to Hall of Famer Rob Gronkowski<\/a>, but the Buccaneers are in the market for a tight end in free agency in 2026 if they truly decide to let Cade Otton walk. The 2025 season doesn’t look good for Tampa Bay right now, despite the ferocious start, but someone like Kelce could keep this offense intact for a couple of years.<\/p>\n

Kelce won’t be a Gronkowski 2.0, but one can imagine what a duo between quarterback Baker Mayfield and him would be like.<\/p>\n

3. Carolina Panthers<\/h3>\n

At the beginning of the 2025 season, it was looking like the Panthers were going to have another disastrous year, but at 5-5, the team is still in the mix for a wild-card spot. Bryce Young is becoming a reliable starter in the league, led by a solid ground game from Rico Dowdle. The same can be said about rookie Tetairoa McMillan<\/a> and slot route-runner Jalen Coker. If the Panthers make the playoffs in January and become a first-round exit, many should expect head coach Dave Canales to be aggressive in free agency and could take a look at Kelce to pair with both Tommy Tremble and Ja’Tavion Sanders.<\/p>\n
