After spending the past three seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, the team will cut linebacker Damone Clark as they continue to shake up their defensive roster. With the trade for Logan Wilson<\/a>, the days were already numbered for Clark<\/a>, and he didn’t get a chance to play Monday Night in Las Vegas. For the first time in a while, the defense found success with their new acquisitions, Wilson and Quinnen Williams, so the release came to no surprise, as Clark hasn’t been able to find his footing in Dallas. Originally selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, the former LSU product has been one of the biggest busts for this Dallas defense that has struggled for the majority of the 2025 campaign.<\/p>\n

Cowboys Cut Former Fifth-Round Bust Damone Clark – 3 Suitors Emerge<\/h2>\n

It’s hard to predict what his future looks like in the league, but since he is coming out of Dallas and is young, there could be some teams looking to acquire him. He will likely go unclaimed on waivers despite recording the most tackles in his sophomore campaign while starting all 17 games in that same season. Clark will be on the search for his next opportunity and will need to work his way back to a starting role. With that, here are three teams that may sign him at some point.<\/p>\n

1. Carolina Panthers<\/h3>\n

The Carolina Panthers aren’t out of the playoff hunt just yet. They are 5-5 and could sneakily find a way to play in the wild-card in January if they continue to be consistent. However, the Panthers made several changes on their defensive roster, including releasing linebacker Josey Jewell. Despite that, they made two draft acquisitions in Nic Scourton and Princely Umanmielen, and with DJ Wonnum<\/a> set to become a free agent, the Panthers may sign Clark for depth.<\/p>\n

He isn’t going to start, but it’s a chance to develop in a roster that showed that they’re finally valuing the defense after signing Tershawn Wharton and Tre’Von Moehrig as their biggest splashes.<\/p>\n

2. Washington Commanders<\/h3>\n

It wouldn’t be a surprise if head coach Dan Quinn acquires another former Cowboy. While he brought Tyler Biadasz, Dorance Armstrong, and Joe Whitt to Washington, the Commanders could roll the dice on Clark. The team is expected to lose Bobby Wagner<\/a> and Von Miller in free agency this upcoming offseason unless they want to stay for a few years and put their bodies on the line. However, they need linebacker depth to help Frankie Luvu and Clark could be the latest former Cowboy to join the Commanders.<\/p>\n

3. Buffalo Bills<\/h3>\n

A chance to play for a potential contender could be in the works for Clark. He’ll likely join the practice squad, but he should at least get a backup job, given their injury history with linebacker Matt Milano<\/a>. The Bills lack depth in their linebacker room, even despite extending Terrel Bernard. Clark could fill the void and be an extra body.<\/p>\n
