With the Giants’ 2025 season in the rear corner, the team will most likely make several moves to make room in their cap space, and this could mean releasing running back Devin Singletary. According to a source<\/a>, the Giants would benefit from moving on from Singletary, as the veteran has been falling on the depth chart. With Cam Skattebo<\/a> and Tyrone Tracy Jr. on rookie contracts, it’s a cheaper deal for the Giants to stick with these two running backs, which puts Singletary on the back burner. Originally selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the former Florida Atlantic product signed a contract with New York in the wake of letting Saquon Barkley hit free agency<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Singletary hasn’t been able to live up to the expectations of what the Giants are looking for, which is why they have Tracy and Skattebo as their future. The veteran has been the subject of trade rumors before the deadline this season. However, the Giants kept him in the fold, and after spending time with the Bills and Houston, the running back still has a ton of experience to be a dependable backup. It’s hard to imagine seeing him get another shot at another starting role since he’s turning 29 next season, and teams might be reluctant to give him a huge role, but here are three teams that could sign him to a deal in the offseason.<\/p>\n

1. Dallas Cowboys<\/h3>\n

While Javonte Williams<\/a> has been exceptional for most of the 2025 season, he has slowed down in the past two games. This means that to get rookie Jaydon Blue up to speed, they might need to invest in another running back. With veteran Miles Sanders likely to be gone after the 2025 season in the wake of his latest injury, the Cowboys should sign Singletary on a one-year deal at minimum. Williams might return on another one-year contract to prove, but unless he can change things around and carry most of the workload, he should be back fighting for a starting job again between Blue and Singletary.<\/p>\n

2. Carolina Panthers<\/h3>\n

Since running back Rico Dowdle<\/a> looks to be the future of the ground game for Bryce Young’s offense, the team could trade Chuba Hubbard to a new team in the offseason. With Jonathon Brooks still recovering from a gruesome injury<\/a>, the Panthers will need to sign a reliable backup either way if they part ways with Hubbard. Dowdle will most likely win the starting job by the end of the season if he stays healthy, but Singletary could be another bell cow for this offense to strengthen the run game.<\/p>\n

3. Los Angeles Chargers<\/h3>\n

Despite being without Omarion Hampton and Najee Harris<\/a>, the Los Angeles Chargers are still finding ways to win football games. While Justin Herbert’s arm deserves credit, the team is seeing shine from running back Kimani Vidal. The Chargers will still acquire a new running back in the upcoming offseason, and Harris will likely depart the team. Singletary is a low-stakes acquisition to give Hampton another dependable option to lead the ground game as a 1-2 punch.<\/p>\n
