If you drafted Brock Bowers this season, he had been giving you nothing but headaches for about nine weeks before exploding last week for 3 touchdowns and over 30 fantasy points. Hopefully, it wasn’t too little too late for his managers, who have had to play without their 2nd round pick for the vast majority of this season.

Meanwhile, Trey McBride owners have to be celebrating the news that Jacoby Brissett will remain under center for Arizona for at least another four weeks with Kyler Murray hitting the IR this week. McBride has scored four touchdowns in three games with Brissett, while scoring only two in about two seasons with Murray.

Around the league, we had another rookie breakout performance, and this time it was by the rookie we had been expecting to see it from all season. Colston Loveland showed us what the Bears saw in him to make him a first-round selection by thumping the Bengals with 6 grabs, 118 yards, and two scores. A performance like that might just vault you into the top ten at a shaky position like tight end. Let’s take a look at our Week 10 tight end rankings and see if the Bears rookie has made the grade.

Week 10 Tight End Rankings

1) Trey McBride vs. Seahawks

We’re sticking with McBride here, despite Bowers’ big week. The fact that he will get to play with Brissett for another 4 weeks gives us the confidence that he will remain relevant in the red zone, which was the only missing piece in his otherwise elite resume entering this season. If McBride manages to score 10+ touchdowns, then he will finish the season as a top 12 receiver in PPR formats rather than just a top 3 tight end. He’s on pace to eclipse 100 catches and 1,000 yards again this season and remains an elite option every week. This week, the Cardinals face a familiar foe in Seattle, and McBride will be heavily involved in the game plan. The Seahawks rank 17th against the pass, but 23rd overall in DVOA against the tight end position.

2) Brock Bowers vs. Broncos

Where have you been all season, big fella? Bowers looked to be fully healthy and over the knee ailment that slowed him down on opening day. He looked fast and explosive, and when he’s on top of his game, there isn’t a defense that will be able to stop him completely. The Broncos have the top-ranked pass defense, but they typically funnel passes to the middle of the field with their dominant cornerback play and elite pass rush. Patrick Surtain is still out, but that really doesn’t affect Bowers. He will pile up receptions underneath, in the middle of the field, but may struggle to break any long plays. He is still an elite option at this position, but I wouldn’t expect anything close to what we saw last week.

3) Tyler Warren vs. Falcons

The Falcons are ranked #1 against the pass as well as #1 in the league against the tight end position. The matchup isn’t great on paper for Warren, but we just saw Hunter Henry go for 51 yards on 4 catches last weekend. In fact, when you look at Atlanta’s schedule, they haven’t exactly faced the who’s who of the tight end position. They took on the 49ers without Kittle, and the only other tight end that they faced that we would consider strong was Dalton Kincaid in Week 5. Kincaid was able to total 108 yards on 6 catches, so I feel pretty good about Warren against them this week. Daniel Jones has been spreading the ball around a bit more lately, so Warren has had to compete for targets with the likes of Alec Pierce and Josh Downs on top of Michael Pittman, but I feel like this will be a big bounce-back week for Jones and the Colts offense.

4) Sam LaPorta vs. Commanders

I’m just very high on all Lions players this week since I feel like Washington is going to really struggle to compete, and Dan Campbell is looking for a punching bag to bully after losing last week. The Commanders’ pass defense is ranked 29th in the league against the pass and 26th overall against the tight end position. I expect LaPorta to build on last week’s 6 catches for 97 yards and a touchdown performance and be heavily involved while the ball is in the air in the first half. The second half may be a David Montgomery game, but there should be plenty of scoring to go around before the Lions take the air out of the ball and run out the clock.

For more help with your fantasy football rosters, make sure to check out the best streaming options in Week 10.

5) Dalton Kincaid vs. Dolphins

Kincaid has emerged as Josh Allen’s top target with over 100 receiving yards in two of the last three games. That statement should come with the emphasis on “Josh Allen’s favorite target”. Allen is an elite fantasy QB, but he doesn’t typically lock into any one target for very long. The fact that Kincaid was the main guy against the Chiefs may mean that it’s Khalil Shakir’s turn this week. Kincaid has managed to stay active enough in the red zone that even when he isn’t heavily involved in the passing game, he can still contribute with a score, having scored in 4 of his 7 starts this season. The pool at tight end gets shallow quickly, and Kincaid has the upside that many other options don’t. The Dolphins are much weaker against the run than they are against the pass, but they are ranked 27th in the league against the tight end position. When these two teams met earlier in the season, Kincaid went for 5 grabs and 66 yards with a score. Numbers like that make him an easy top 10 option for this week.

6) Oronde Gadsden vs. Steelers

It’s a great matchup, and Gadsden is a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. The Steelers are ranked 32nd in the league against the pass and 30th overall against the tight end position. This rookie is so good that I would consider playing him at your flex if you have another one of the options on this list. Get him into your lineup one way or another.

7) George Kittle vs. Rams

Photo Credit: D. He was on the IR when these two teams met back in early October, but his fill-in, Jake Tonges, had a nice game with 7 catches and a score. It feels like Kittle is ready to have a big game, and while it may not come until the 49ers play on Monday Night in a couple of weeks, I’m willing to bet it happens this week in a divisional game that the 49ers really need to win. Kittle has had 4 grabs in each of his last 2 games, and it seems all that’s missing is added opportunities. They will have to come from Mac Jones since Brock Purdy is probably going to miss one more game, but it just feels like the 49ers will need to pull out all of the stops to beat L.A. for a second time this season. I expect Kittle to get at least 6 catches and very possibly a touchdown.

8) Harold Fannin Jr. vs. Jets

Fannin has been Dillon Gabriel’s top target since he took over under center a month ago. That’s the good news. The bad news is that this isn’t exactly what we would call a high-volume pass attack. It hasn’t been for a lack of trying, as Gabriel has attempted 138 passes in four games, one of which was a slop fest in the rain, which limited him to only 18 attempts. We’ll take 40 pass attempts a game with a target share of around 25% all day. I’m not expecting the Jets to score enough to force Gabriel to drop back at that rate, but we should see about 30 attempts, which gives Fannin a great shot at 8 targets. I would be willing to play both Fannin and Njoku this week against a Jets defense that just traded away their two best players. It should be a lot of Quinshon Judkins this Sunday, but when the ball is thrown, I expect Fannin to remain Gabriel’s top target.

9) Colston Loveland vs. Giants

Loveland makes the fourth rookie to make our tight end rankings this week. We can’t ignore what he did last week, but what really has us intrigued is the upcoming matchup against a Giants defense that is ranked 24th against the pass and ranked 30th overall in the league. There should be a good number of points scored in the game, and I would want to play as many Bears as I could. Loveland isn’t likely to score twice again this week, but he is a solid bet to grab five passes and rack up 50+ yards with a good shot at a score. If Cole Kmet plays, it may hurt his touchdown odds a bit, but I feel like the rookie is going to take off from this point forward and should remain a great weekly option for his fantasy owners.

10) Kyle Pitts vs. Colts

If you’ve been paying attention, you may have noticed that Kyle Pitts doesn’t completely suck. He’s been racking up pass targets each week and has been converting them into receptions, albeit without a touchdown or very much fantasy scoring. He’s been targeted 26 times over his last three games, and this week he will take the field against a Colts defense that’s ranked 26th in the league against the pass and 29th overall against the tight end position. More importantly, the Colts just acquired Sauce Gardner from the Jets, and it’s very likely that he will be shadowing Drake London all game long. Penix will need to lean on Pitts and Bijan with short passes early in the game as they try and set up deep passes for later. There is also a very good chance that they look for Pitts deep down the middle when they get a single high safety look with Jonathan Taylor drawing attention with the run game. There’s no science behind the feeling that a player is “due” but it really feels like Pitts needs to have a big game here for the Falcons to keep pace with the Colts.

For more great fantasy football analysis, check out DrRoto.com!

The tight end rankings in fantasy football continue to be a weekly struggle for most of us.
