That means that we will have to get by without a few of the resident members of our wide receiver rankings in Ja’marr Chase, Tee Higgins, George Pickens, Ceedee Lamb, and Rashee Rice.

The trade deadline came and went, and thankfully there wasn’t very much movement on the wide receiver front. The only names of note that changed teams were Jakobi Myers (to the Jags) and Rasheed Shaheed (to the Seahawks), and both players were barely cracking the wide receiver top 40 list each week. When a receiver gets traded this late in the season, it generally kills his fantasy value.

I would advise against rushing out to pick up either Meyers or Shaheed unless you are desperate for a flex option in a deeper league. Generally, when a team acquires a wide receiver, it’s with an eye on the postseason, as it takes a few weeks for the player to learn the playbook and build chemistry with the team’s QB.

A deep sleeper who did change teams over a week ago and is likely on your waiver wire is veteran Tyler Lockett, who signed with the Raiders after being released by the Titans. Most would laugh at the idea of picking up a 33-year-old player who hasn’t been relevant in three years. I’m not saying he will be a league winner, but the last time he had any value, it was playing with Geno Smith under Pete Carroll.

With Jakobi Meyers now shipped off to Jacksonville, somebody will have to catch passes from Geno Smith other than Brock Bowers. Tre Tucker will remain the top option downfield, but I can see Lockett working his way into a role similar to what Adam Thielen had last year in Carolina. As I said, he’s a deep sleeper, and he’s not a sexy pick-up, but he could be useful if you need a bye week filler. He won’t be on this week’s top 10 list, but let’s take a look at who is.

Read on to see how our Week 10 wide receiver rankings play out!

1) Jaxon Smith-Njigba vs. Cardinals

Photo Credit: Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

JSN has been on a roll and has worked his way into the conversation for overall WR1 for the entire season. The Commanders pass defense is ranked 29th in the league, and I expect Dan Campbell to have John Morton call for kill shots all game long. McCarthy back under center went about as well as we could have hoped. Jefferson led the team in targets and receptions and scored a touchdown, so we’ll have to get over the fact that he only piled up 47 receiving yards in the process. It seems that Kevin O’Connell doesn’t want to overexpose McCarthy with too many pass attempts, so we will have to settle for efficiency over volume for now. I expect Jefferson to remain McCarthy’s top target and for the yardage to accumulate this weekend against a Ravens secondary that is slowly improving but still ranks 28th in the league against the pass. Baltimore doesn’t have much in the way of a pass rush, so McCarthy should be able to have time to get the ball downfield to Jefferson and Addison. I expect Lamar Jackson and the Ravens offense to put up a solid number, so O’Connell will have to push McCarthy to throw it a bit more than last week. Jefferson just feels like he’s due for a monster game, and this week could be the week it happens.

4) Drake London vs. Colts

Photo Credit: Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

I hate chasing last week’s points, but London put up a monster for the second time in three games last week against the Patriots and gave his fantasy managers hope that he’s finally becoming the player we thought he would be when we drafted him in the early second round. Since the Falcons returned from their Week 5 bye, London has played in three games with Michael Penix and has been targeted a total of 40 times in that span. This guy is an alpha receiver and will be a name you can expect to see on this list every week for the remainder of the season, regardless of matchup. This week, he faces the Colts and their newest addition, Sauce Gardner. The Colts’ secondary desperately needed a boost, ranking 26th in the league against the pass, and I expect Sauce to shadow London for the whole game. It should have some effect on his overall numbers, but he’s just too good to completely shut down. I expect the Falcons to utilize Bijan and Pitts in their passing attack to draw the safeties up and to take some shots with London deep. He should still get the same 10 targets he’s been getting every week, which makes for a solid starting option in any format.

5) Puka Nacua/Davante Adams vs. 49ers

Photo Credit: Yannick Peterhans-USA TODAY Sports

Puka made it back onto the field after missing time with an ankle injury and had a solid day with 7 grabs for 96 yards and a score. He’s an amazing talent and puts up great numbers every week, but he always seems to be scraping himself up off the ground after every play. I’ve included Adams in this same spot because these two players are both top 10 options every week, regardless of opponent. Davante has scored five touchdowns over his last two games and has made the most of his role as Robin to Puka’s Batman in the Rams passing offense. If Nacua misses the game, Adams vaults to a top 5 option. He’s not on this week’s injury report, so we’re going to go ahead and call it “mission accomplished.” The Bucs will still be without Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, so Baker is going to have to pepper his rookie standout receiver with targets against the Pats and their 19th-ranked pass defense. Last week, we saw what Drake London was able to do against this same unit, so let’s hope Baker Mayfield was taking notes. Egbuka had been a bit quiet over the three games leading into the break, and I’m going to chalk that up to his sore hamstring. The Packers secondary is masked by their pass rush, and they just don’t have anybody who can cover Brown. As the game progressed, he seemed more intent on spreading the ball around and ended up targeting Nico on just 6 of his 30 pass attempts. We would like to see that number increase, and it should, against a much softer pass defense than what Denver puts on the field. We love the matchup, but Nico will be slightly held back by the quarterback. He’s still an elite talent and needs to be in every starting lineup.

9) Courtland Sutton vs. Raiders

Photo Credit: Isaiah J. Downing-Imagn Images

Sutton has been up and down, and his teammate, Troy Franklin, has actually been more involved in the Broncos’ pass attack over the last eight games, drawing 58 targets to Sutton’s 53. Franklin has also been the lead target for Bo Nix in six of those eight games, so it’s quite possible that opposing defenses may start to game plan more for the second-year player going forward. In this matchup against the Raiders, it shouldn’t matter too much, as their secondary is ranked 21st against the pass, and that number is actually helped by the number of games the Raiders have lost. Teams have been less pass-heavy in the second halves of games while they lean on their run game to grind out the clock. Sutton still has number 1 receiver talent, and I expect this to be a big game for him. We just need to hope that Bo Nix can come out throwing from the start, rather than wait for the 4th quarter as has been his habit lately.

10) Ladd McConkey vs. Steelers

Photo Credit: David Butler II-Imagn Images

The matchup is about as good as it gets this week for Justin Herbert and his pass catchers as they take on a Pittsburgh team that is ranked 32nd overall against the pass. The matchup just couldn’t be better, but we do have to worry slightly that the Chargers are just too loaded at receiver right now. McConkey is the default alpha in most of our minds, mostly because he had the best season of the group last year and was the highest drafted in all of our fantasy leagues.

He has been amazing over the last five weeks after a sluggish start, but we did see his opportunities drop a bit last week. His 6 targets were tied for the team lead along with Quenten Johnston, with Oronde Gadsden and Keenan Allen right behind with 5 apiece. I think that’s how it’s going to be every week for the Chargers receivers. Those 4 players are going to chop up about 75-80% of Justin Herbert’s pass attempts. If he chucks it up 55 times like he did against the Colts, then there’s room for Ladd to get 15 targets, while Allen gets 14 and Gadsden and Johnston combine for another 15. How much do we expect Herbert to have to throw it this week against Pittsburgh? That’s the question we will need to answer before we can figure out what share of that will go to Ladd. I expect Ladd to get closer to 10 looks this week, and that should be plenty enough to do damage against the Steelers and their “old timers day” pass defense.

For more great fantasy football analysis, check out DrRoto.com!

The wide receiver landscape takes a bit of a hit this week as the Bengals, Chiefs, Titans, and Cowboys are all on their bye weeks.
