The Los Angeles Chargers are in one of the most competitive divisions in the league, and could call up a few pieces before the trade deadline, and that may include running back Chuba Hubbard. According to a source<\/a>, they believe the Chargers may trade for Hubbard to address the halfback woes since they lost veteran Najee Harris and rookie Omarion Hampton in one season. While Hampton will return at some point, they can’t lean the full-time duties for a rookie that’s coming off an injury. With that, it would be a safe deal for the Chargers to go all in on Hubbard, who is under a long-term contract, but the good news is that it’s affordable for the cap space in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the former Oklahoma State product might be slowly fading in the background due to the emergence of running back Rico Dowdle<\/a>. The former Dallas Cowboy has been taking advantage of the extra snaps that he’s been receiving while Hubbard was recovering from an injury for a few weeks, and it has paid dividends for this Panthers offense that’s now 5-4 this season. Even though the Chargers lost Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt for the rest of the 2025 campaign, they can’t give up the season single-handedly as they’re still in the driver’s seat for a wild-card spot.<\/p>\n

However, there are several teams across the league looking for offensive pieces, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if these three teams make a move at the running back position.<\/p>\n

1. Dallas Cowboys<\/h3>\n

After a disastrous loss, the Dallas Cowboys are one loss away from being out of postseason contention, but they could somehow strengthen this entire roster. While Javonte Williams looked like a true RB1 all season this year, he’s been slowing down, and it might be time for Dallas to find a legitimate running back for the future. With rookie Jaydon Blue looking to be a bust, the Cowboys should go “all in” and trade for a running back like Hubbard to give this offense a well-rounded team for Dak Prescott<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While their focus will be is defense, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they make some type of trade to improve their offense as well.<\/p>\n

2. Kansas City Chiefs<\/h3>\n

Despite losing a close one to Buffalo, the Kansas City Chiefs are still in the playoff race at 5-4. However, the running game could use some improvement for the future moving forward. Isiah Pacheco<\/a> hasn’t looked the same since suffering his injury from last year, and he’s slated to become a free agent this offseason, just like veteran Kareem Hunt. It’s a “toss-up” situation for the ground game, but even though there haven’t been any trades made from Brett Veach, it feels like this possible deal for Hubbard could give Kansas City a real splash for Patrick Mahomes’ offense.<\/p>\n

3. New England Patriots<\/h3>\n

With Antonio Gibson out for the season<\/a> and Rhamondre Stevenson nursing his own injury, the New England Patriots need to fill the hole in their ground game. While the team is 7-2, they can’t lean too much on rookie Treveyon Henderson to take up the snaps.
