The NFL trade deadline is tomorrow, and the Cincinnati Bengals latest loss<\/a> could lead to Trey Hendrickson becoming available. After spending most of the offseason locked in a contract battle, the player and team eventually agreed to a restructured contract that would let him hit free agency following the season. In theory, this would give Cincinnati the chance to compete in 2025 without committing to an aging player.<\/p>\n

While Hendrickson is still a great pass rusher, the defense is too horrible to support a legitimate playoff run. At 3-6, the Bengals should focus on the future and try to accumulate draft picks. Even though he’s only under contract for half a season, the following five teams should be more than willing to trade a decent pick for Trey Hendrickson.<\/p>\n

The Pittsburgh Steelers are 5-3, but it’s not because of their defense. While they had a good showing against Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts<\/a> last week, their overall body of work leaves something to be desired. The unit isn’t playing up to its usual standard and might not be good enough to support an aging Aaron Rodgers in the playoffs.<\/p>\n

A Trey Hendrickson trade could fix this. T.J. Watt isn’t having the best season<\/a> of his storied career, but he’s still one of the game’s best. Pairing him with Trey Hendrickson would give Pittsburgh the game’s best pair of pass rushers, but would the Bengals ever trade him within the division? Chances are, it would take a massive overpay for something like this to happen.<\/p>\n

4. New England Patriots<\/h3>\n

It wasn’t pretty, but the New England Patriots got the win in Week 9 and improved to 7-2 on the season. While the defense ultimately came through in the end, the team struggled to provide consistent pressure on quarterback Michael Penix<\/a> and gave him all the time he needed to connect with star wideout Drake London<\/a> downfield.<\/p>\n

Drake Maye is still playing like one of the best quarterbacks in football, but yesterday’s performance showed he’s not unstoppable. A Trey Hendrickson trade would dramatically boost the defense and make it so that a second-year quarterback like Maye won’t have to carry the entire team when they start facing better competition.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0 Kansas City Chiefs<\/h3>\n

After their loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Kansas City Chiefs face an uphill battle to win the AFC West. At 5-4, the team still has a good shot at the Wild Card, but they find themselves behind the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers in the race for the division. They can kiss homefield advantage goodbye, and they might have to go on the road for their entire postseason run.<\/p>\n

Kansas City still has a championship-caliber roster, but it should bolster the defensive line with a Trey Hendrickson trade. The pass rush hasn’t been the same this year, as defensive tackle Chris Jones<\/a> is having a down year. Hendrickson would give the Chiefs a considerably better defense and help make the team more competitive in games like yesterday when Mahomes isn’t at his best.<\/p>\n

2. Los Angeles Chargers<\/h3>\n

Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers are in a dogfight for the AFC West crown, but they should make the playoffs in one way or another. While the injury-riddled offensive line<\/a> is probably the biggest concern on the roster, this team could use another pass rusher.<\/p>\n

Ravens first-round pick Odafe Oweh had a good game against the hapless Tennessee Titans, but the rest of the roster leaves something to be desired. Bud Dupree is well past his prime, Khalil Mack has struggled to stay on the field, and Tuli Tuipulotu is better in a depth role. Oweh and Mack have the potential to be a solid starting duo, but a Trey Hendrickson trade would ensure the Chargers have a great defensive line throughout the season.<\/p>\n

At 6-2, the Philadelphia Eagles have one of the best records and rosters in all of football. However, General Manager Howie Roseman<\/a> has never shied away from making a big move, and he could make one of his biggest transactions in the coming days. Hendrickson would add yet another layer of talent to a loaded roster and increase Philadelphia’s odds of winning it all for the second time in as many years.<\/p>\n
