After losing to the Baltimore Ravens in another disastrous prime-time football matchup, the Miami Dolphins might as well position themselves to trade wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. While the Dolphins have no desire to move Waddle<\/a>, the draft capital that they may receive will benefit the new regime of this organization since they already fired general manager Chris Grier. It’s obvious that the Dolphins are going to be rebuilding for a while, as quarterback Tua Tagovailoa<\/a> is probably one of the worst locker room leaders in the league, and his lack of professional character has been evident throughout the 2025 season in media press conferences. A band-aid can’t fix this team alone, so no matter who it is, rookie Quinn Ewers won’t bring out the best in Waddle, and the Dolphins should safely move on from Waddle while the expectation is that they will release Tyreek Hill after the year is over.<\/p>\n

Originally selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the former Alabama product has one of the best hands in the league. Waddle should be on the number one list on every contender’s radar if the teams want to make a splash. This is something that the Dolphins want to avoid, which they understand, but they don’t really have a choice here. There hasn’t been any indication that Waddle wants to move on, but these four teams could make a strong push for him.<\/p>\n

1. Dallas Cowboys<\/h3>\n

While the Dallas Cowboys would prefer a defensive trade like Maxx Crosby or Trey Hendrickson, if there is an opportunity for Waddle, they probably should bite. The Cowboys have two extra first-round picks, which is something that should intrigue Miami. If Dallas can’t improve defensively, then why not get Waddle in on the fun alongside CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens<\/a>?<\/p>\n

2. New England Patriots<\/h3>\n

Quarterback Drake Maye is on fire<\/a>, but he is no prime Tom Brady. However, this trade acquisition would probably position Maye and head coach Mike Vrabel as their own Bill Belichick-Brady era. While the team has two reliable receivers in Stefon Diggs and Kayshon Boutte, who have been surprising the offense with their production, they will turn up if Waddle joins. At 6-2, the Patriots should make a splash trade like this one if they want to beat teams like the Chiefs, Bills and Chargers.<\/p>\n

3. Indianapolis Colts<\/h3>\n

This would be a long shot for the Indianapolis Colts, as they would want to trade for a defensive piece. However, Daniel Jones<\/a> is finally revived in his career, and the Colts would want to turn up the momentum to the max. Waddle joining running back Jonathan Taylor and receivers Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs and Adonai Mitchell would likely bring them to the Super Bowl. The Colts could trade a first-round pick and Alec Pierce in exchange for Waddle.<\/p>\n

4. Washington Commanders<\/h3>\n

The 2025 season isn’t over just yet if Jayden Daniels<\/a> can stay healthy and the Commanders can somehow win out to be in the wildcard. However, these two things would make things easier if Daniels gets another hot receiver to pair with Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel.
