Now at 2-7 and with their season effectively over, Miami must start looking towards the future. Grier reportedly was unwilling to deal most of his valuable trade assets, but the Dolphins could be open for business with a new man calling the shots.

5 Trades the Dolphins Could Make Before the Deadline

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, teams have been calling about five specific players on the roster. With Grier out of the way and head coach Mike McDaniel remaining at his post until at least the end of the season, which means the Dolphins could pull the trigger on the following five trades.

Main Photo: Brett Davis – Imagn Images

5. Rasul Douglas to the Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings find themselves in a peculiar situation. While they have the talent and coaching to compete for a Super Bowl, they may not have the offense to overcome their current record. At 3-4, Minnesota is still very much alive in the postseason race but is at the bottom of a loaded NFC North. With questions surrounding the untested J.J. McCarthy, the Vikings probably shouldn’t break the bank on one of the top options on the trade market.

Instead, they should pursue a more reasonable option like Rasul Douglas. The 31-year-old is in the midst of a strong season, but he’s also playing on a one-year deal and will be a free agent after the season. Minnesota should add another cornerback to complement Brian Flores’ aggressive scheme, and the Dolphins should be willing to trade a fifth-round pick for half a season of Douglas.

GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN – JANUARY 22: Cornerback Rasul Douglas #29 of the Green Bay Packers reacts after the Packers forced a turnover on downs during the 4th quarter of the NFC Divisional Playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers at Lambeau Field on January 22, 2022 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Bradley Chubb to the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars enter Week 9 with a 4-3 record, and they’ve done it without much of a pass rush. It doesn’t seem possible, but the team only has eight sacks through their first seven games, the lowest number in the league. While their odds of winning the division are basically gone, they must do something to secure a Wild Card spot.

The Dolphins have several pass rushers that should draw trade interest, but Bradley Chubb is the best fit for Jacksonville. A former top-five pick, the North Carolina State product has lost a step from his peak but is still an above-average starter. Through nine games, the veteran has recorded four sacks, 25 tackles, and five tackles-for-loss.

Oct 5, 2025; Charlotte, North Carolina, USA; Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young (9) passes the ball as Miami Dolphins outside linebacker Bradley Chubb (2) pressures in the first quarter at Bank of America Stadium. Jaelan Phillips to the Kansas City Chiefs

Speaking of first-round pass rushers, Jaelan Phillips will be a free agent at the end of the season. Rather than risk losing him for nothing, the Miami Dolphins might as well consider trades from teams across the league. While just about every contender should have some interest, the Kansas City Chiefs make the most sense as a potential landing spot.

Phillips isn’t anything special as a run defender, but he excels as a pass rusher. In theory, he’d be most effective on a team that plays from ahead and would find itself facing pass-happy defenses. That team should be the Kansas City Chiefs, as this offense is nearly unstoppable with a healthy Rashee Rice and Patrick Mahomes.

Main Photo: David Banks-Imagn Images

2. Matthew Judon to the New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are 6-2 and in control of the AFC East. Nobody thought this would happen at the beginning of the season, and while their weak schedule may be artificially boosting their record, nobody can deny that this team should make the postseason. However, how deep they go depends on what they do at the trade deadline, and they should reach out to the Dolphins about Matthew Judon.

Judon is not the player he once was, and he won’t singlehandedly turn New England’s defense into the 2000 Baltimore Ravens. However, edge defender is arguably the biggest need on the Patriots roster, and adding Judon for a late-round pick would provide some much-needed depth to the roster. Harold Landry and K’Lavon Chaisson have played well this year, but someone else must step up on the outside.

Main Photo: Brett Davis-Imagn Images

1. Jaylen Waddle to the Pittsburgh Steelers

After building up a big lead early in the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers are only one game ahead of the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC North. While the defense is the biggest culprit for this lack of production, the Steelers could use another wide receiver. D.K. Metcalf has played well, but this team needs someone else to step up as a reliable target for the aging Aaron Rodgers.

Jaylen Waddle is a perfect choice for the job, and his speed is exactly what this offense needs. The Steelers spent the entire offseason going all-in on the 2025 campaign, as it is clear Mike Tomlin has no interest in another early playoff exit. This would easily be the most expensive of the Miami Dolphins trades, but the Steelers may be willing to pay the price.

Main Photo: Cory Knowlton-Imagn Images

The Miami Dolphins could make the following five trades after parting ways with former General Manager Chris Grier

[6431,16,4,26,5,9
3541,7811,7576,6671,7163,1901
post-253021","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-teams","category-chiefs","category-dolphins","category-vikings","category-patriots","category-steelers","tag-bradley-chubb","tag-chiefs-featured","tag-jaelan-phillips","tag-jaylen-waddle","tag-matthew-judon","tag-rasul-douglas
["GET
