The Las Vegas Raiders recently signed veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett, which likely signals a Jakobi Meyers trade. Now playing in the final year of his contract, Meyers requested a trade before the season, but the Raiders refused to deal him. At the time, the team believed they could compete for a playoff spot with new quarterback Geno Smith<\/a>, head coach Pete Carroll, and rookie running back Ashton Jeanty<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, that hasn’t come to pass, as the team currently owns a 2-5 record as Smith and Carroll struggle to recapture their Seattle magic. Given that their season is effectively over, the Raiders have every reason to listen to Jakobi Meyers trade talks and get what they can for the talented wideout.<\/p>\n

Raiders Likely to Trade Jakobi Meyers After Tyler Lockett Signing<\/h2>\n

Tyler Lockett is a shell of his former self, but the longtime Seahawk plays a similar style of football to Meyers. Keeping both players on the roster doesn’t make sense, and the Lockett signing is only smart if Vegas doesn’t plan on keeping Meyers on the roster. Seeing as the trade deadline is just a week away, don’t be surprised if Vegas sends its wideout to any of the following four teams.<\/p>\n

4. Denver Broncos<\/h3>\n

The Denver Broncos made the playoffs in the first year of the Bo Nix Era<\/a>, and they’ve successfully made the Year 2 leap in 2025. As of this posting, the team sits atop the loaded AFC West with an impressive 6-2 record and should consider itself a Super Bowl contender. Led by an elite defense and one of the best offensive lines in football, this team’s last glaring weakness is at the wide receiver position.<\/p>\n

Courtland Sutton is a great player, and guys like Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims are valuable role players, but they could benefit from a Jakobi Meyers trade. Bo Nix is at his best when he’s utilizing the quick passing game, and the Raiders wideout excels at getting open quickly and moving the chains. While Nix and Meyers won’t make anyone forget about the Drew Brees-Michael Thomas connection, this duo should be a good fit for Sean Payton’s offense.<\/p>\n

3. Carolina Panthers<\/h3>\n

Sunday’s humiliating loss to the Carolina Panthers shows the team still has a long way to go before they’re ready to compete with the NFL’s elite organizations. While the 40-9 loss<\/a> ensures they’re not legitimate Super Bowl contenders, they could still win a weak NFC South, and a Jakobi Meyers trade could help them accomplish that goal.<\/p>\n

Carolina entered the season with sky-high expectations for Jalen Coker<\/a>, but the former undrafted free agent hasn’t done too much thus far. After missing the early part of the season with an injury, the Holy Cross product has recorded just three receptions for 36 yards in his two games of action. Perhaps he can improve as he knocks off the dust, but a Jakobi Meyers trade would ensure that Bryce Young has someone reliable to target in the short and intermediate parts of the field.<\/p>\n

2. Buffalo Bills<\/h3>\n

For the first time this decade, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills face a legitimate threat in the AFC East. Drake Maye is playing like an MVP<\/a>, and his impressive performance, combined with the arrival of head coach Mike Vrabel, has New England atop the AFC East. The Bills must do something to increase their odds of winning the division and hosting at least one playoff game, and a Jakobi Meyers trade might be their best avenue for success.<\/p>\n

Mayers is, admittedly, a little redundant with Khalil Shakir already on the roster, but the Bills need more talent at wide receiver. Josh Allen hasn’t quite played up to his usual ridiculous standard over the past few weeks, and someone like Meyers could help him jump back into the MVP race and close the gap with New England in the division.<\/p>\n

1. New England Patriots<\/h3>\n

Jakobi Meyers entered the league with the New England Patriots, so it’s only fitting he returns to the team at the trade deadline. The Patriots offense looks nearly unstoppable with Maye at the helm, and they just dropped 32 points on an elite Cleveland Browns<\/a> defense. While this is one of the best passing attacks in football, they could use an upgrade at the wide receiver position.<\/p>\n

Stefon Diggs is still a good player and Kayshon Boutte is making the Year 3 leap, but this team needs someone who can consistently beat man coverage. Maye’s struggled to find receivers when opposing defenses play man, often choosing to scramble instead of trying to force a tight pass. Meyers may have slowed down a bit, but he can still create separation at the top of routes and will make this passing game that much more dangerous.<\/p>\n
