Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher Maxx Crosby has been at the center of trade rumors for the past few weeks despite the team’s best efforts. The four-time Pro Bowler is easily the best player on the team’s roster, and recent reports indicated the Raiders had no interest in trading their homegrown star. However,\u00a0Pro Football Talk’s<\/em> Mike Florio isn’t buying that and believes the pass rusher could be available for the right price.<\/p>\n

“I don’t know that I believe [the report,]” Florio said<\/a>. “I think he’s stuck, and he got paid, and you know, if they’re not going to trade him, it’s not useful for him to start making it known he doesn’t want to be there…I still don’t believe Crosby falls into that category of untouchable players. And I think a sufficient offer would potentially get their attention.”<\/p>\n

Raiders News: Why the Maxx Crosby Trade Rumors Won’t Die<\/h2>\n

Even with Florio’s comments, it’s safe to assume the Raiders won’t trade Maxx Crosby. After all, the star pass rusher signed a massive three-year, $106.5 million extension in the offseason, and giving up on that deal after half a season would be strange. With that being said, Vegas is 2-5, out of the playoff picture, and could use all the draft picks they can get to rebuild this organization. If Crosby goes anywhere, it will likely be to one of these four contenders.<\/p>\n

4. Chicago Bears<\/h3>\n

The Ben Johnson Era<\/a> is off to a fantastic start, as the team currently owns an impressive 4-2 record while Caleb Williams continues to thrive in the new offense. While this team could make the playoffs, it faces an uphill battle to win an incredibly competitive NFC North. This team is good, but it could use a game-changing talent to take them to the next level.<\/p>\n

A Maxx Crosby trade could be just what the doctor ordered. Back in 2018, the Khalil Mack trade helped the Bears go 12-4 and come a missed kick away from the Wild Card round. History could repeat itself here, with the key difference being that Caleb Williams is considerably better than former quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.<\/p>\n

3. Carolina Panthers<\/h3>\n

The Carolina Panthers have a winning record for the first time in forever, and it may be time for the snakebitten franchise to get aggressive. While this team probably isn’t a Maxx Crosby trade away from winning the Super Bowl this year, the pass rusher’s presence could make this team the NFC South favorites. As of this posting, this team is just one game behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the standings, and Baker Mayfield’s squad is battling an absurd amount of injuries.<\/p>\n

In the short term, Crosby will improve this team’s pass rush and increase the odds of making the playoffs. Even though he’s a seven-year veteran, the former fourth-round pick should have a few more years in his tank, and adding a premier player like him could help the development of young pass rushers like Nic Scourton<\/a> and Princely Umanmielen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2. New England Patriots<\/h3>\n

The New England Patriots have the biggest competitive advantage in football: an elite quarterback on a rookie contract. Nobody has played better football over the last month than Drake Maye, and the UNC product’s breakout has New England atop the AFC East with a 5-2 record. While this team should cruise to a Wild Card spot at the very least, a Maxx Crosby trade could turn this team into a legitimate Super Bowl contender.<\/p>\n

New England currently has the most cap space in football by a comfortable margin, so they could afford to make this move. While the Patriots defense isn’t a liability, it’s not nearly as intimidating as its high-powered passing attack. Adding Crosby to the mix could fix New England’s greatest weakness, and his ability to quickly pressure the quarterback should make life easier for cornerbacks Christian Gonzalez<\/a>, Carlton Davis, and Marcus Jones.<\/p>\n

1. Dallas Cowboys<\/h3>\n

Dak Prescott is playing at an MVP level<\/a>, but it hasn’t really mattered since the defense has been so terrible. Trading Micah Parsons has proven to be a terrible move, as the unit ranks at or near the bottom of every major statistic and is the biggest reason this team is 3-3-1 despite Prescott’s phenomenal play.<\/p>\n

A Maxx Crosby trade won’t turn this unit into a top-five defense, but it would create a massive boost. With how well Prescott is playing, this team should make the playoffs if the defense can improve from horrible to just below-average. Seeing as they have plenty of picks from the Micah Parsons deal, they should be able to make a move without sacrificing the ability to add young talent in the draft.<\/p>\n
