Currently sitting at 5-2, Sean Payton’s squad is atop the AFC West but must watch out for two elite teams in the 5-3 Los Angeles Chargers and 4-3 Kansas City Chiefs. The Broncos made the playoffs last year, but they must add some talent if they want to go on a deep playoff run in 2025.

Top 4 Denver Broncos Wide Receiver Trade Targets, Ranked

Denver’s defense is one of the best in football, but the offense leaves something to be desired. While it isn’t an active liability, the squad ranks right around the middle of the league in most metrics. 2024 first-round pick Bo Nix is not an elite quarterback, and Courtland Sutton is the only starting-caliber receiver on the offense. While players like Marvin Mims and Troy Franklin are solid role players, the following four receivers could be perfect trade targets for the Denver Broncos offense.

Main Photo: Isaiah J. Downing – Imagn Images

4. Rashid Shaheed, Saints

Sean Payton has never shied away from bringing members of the Saints to the Denver Broncos, and that trend could continue with this wide receiver trade. While Rashid Shaheed never played under Payton in New Orleans, it’s easy to see why this is such a match. The former undrafted free agent has developed into one of the league’s better deep threats. However, he’s entering the final year of his contract, and the cash-strapped Saints probably won’t be able to extend him in the offseason. From a long-term standpoint, the Saints have every reason to try and deal him.

A Rashid Shaheed trade would make the Broncos better, but there’s a reason the undrafted wide receiver is at the bottom of this list. For one, his skillset overlaps with Marvin Mims, and Denver should probably look to add a more unique player to the offense. Secondly, Shaheed is at his best as a vertical threat, and Nix has an inconsistent deep ball. If Denver wants to surround their franchise quarterback with new weapons, it should try to find more of a possession receiver.

Oct 5, 2025; New Orleans, Louisiana, USA; New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed (22) celebrates after a play against the New York Giants during the fourth quarter at Caesars Superdome. Calvin Ridley, Titans

Calvin Ridley is on the older side, but the former first-round pick should have enough in his tank to help this organization. Signed to a massive deal in the 2024 offseason, the wide receiver recorded 1,000 yards last year and has recorded 16 receptions for 290 yards through six games in 2025.

These numbers leave a lot to be desired, but they come with an asterisk. The Titans have the game’s worst offense, led by an already-fired coaching staff and a rookie quarterback in Cam Ward, who looks overwhelmed. Payton is a substantially better coach and should be able to get something out of Ridley as the Broncos pursue a playoff spot.

Sep 28, 2025; Houston, Texas, USA; Tennessee Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley runs against Houston Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. (24) during the first half at NRG Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Troy Taormina-Imagn Images

2. Jakobi Meyers, Raiders

On paper, Jakobi Meyers is a perfect fit for Bo Nix and Sean Payton. Payton loves players who can consistently get open and efficiently move the sticks, and Meyers excels at those aspects of the game. While he’s nothing special after the catch and won’t stretch the field, Jakobi Meyers excels at creating quick separation and could be the go-to third-down target for this offense. Nobody should expect Michael Thomas’ numbers out of Meyers, but he could put up a career year with Payton.

The only question is whether or not the Raiders would trade their best wide receiver to a division rival like the Broncos. The Raiders season is effectively over, but nobody likes to make a division rival better. Perhaps a deal could get done if Denver outbids the competition, but one must imagine that a tie goes to a team like the New England Patriots or Pittsburgh Steelers.

Oct 5, 2025; Indianapolis, Indiana, USA; Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (16) makes a catch against the Indianapolis Colts during the second half at Lucas Oil Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Trevor Ruszkowski-Imagn Images

1. Chris Olave, Saints

Having a starting quarterback on a rookie contract is one of the biggest competitive advantages in football, and it’s time for the Broncos to take advantage of this. While Courtland Sutton is a solid WR1, adding Chris Olave to the mix would give Denver one of the league’s better wide receiver duos.

While his concussion history is genuinely worrisome, Chris Olave remains one of the league’s better wide receivers when on the field. The former first-round pick can do a little bit of everything, and his versatile skillset should make him an ideal pairing with Sean Payton. Just like with Shaheed, Olave never crossed paths with Payton in New Orleans, but that shouldn’t stop the two sides from working out a deal.

Main Photo: Gregory Fisher-Imagn Images

The Denver Broncos could trade for a wide receiver to help Bo Nix and Sean Payton take the next step and push for a deep playoff run

[6431,15,17,28,11
3331,8995,7305,5138,10104,7659
post-252235","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-teams","category-broncos","category-raiders","category-saints","category-titans","tag-calvin-ridley","tag-chris-olave","tag-denver-broncos-news","tag-jakobi-meyers","tag-rashid-shaheed","tag-saints-featured
["GET
