The New York Jets are taking a new disastrous turn at 0-7 as the NFL Jets owner, Woody Johnson, isn’t happy and a trade involving Justin Fields could come sooner than expected. Amid their losing start, Johnson is taking shots at Fields under first-year head coach Aaron Glenn, while offering praise to Glenn, but withholding any recognition for the starting quarterback. Despite signing a two-year deal with the Jets, Johnson made it clear that he does not have faith in Fields and that could turn into real trouble if they start backup Tyrod Taylor<\/a> and he outperforms the starter moving forward.<\/p>\n

“If we could complete a pass, it would look good,” Johnson said.<\/a> “It’s hard when you have a quarterback with a rating that.. he has the ability, but something is just not [jibing,].”<\/p>\n

Fields is probably one of the most inaccurate quarterbacks in Jets history, while his conservative play led him to get hit with 22 sacks on the 2025 campaign alone. Even though he’s been able to complete 64% of his passes and has yet to throw a pick, this is something the team should keep an eye on. Either way, it might be best to trade him if the Jets don’t see a future in him, and it shouldn’t be too long for him to receive interest.<\/p>\n

Several teams in the league need a backup quarterback, which is a role Field might have to embrace. This would be an opportunity for him to build himself back into a reliable starter again. The biggest thing for the Jets is when they will trade Fields, not if. Here are three possible destinations for Fields if the Jets decide to part ways.<\/p>\n

1. Carolina Panthers<\/h3>\n

The Carolina Panthers might soon need an adequate quarterback. With Bryce Young expected to miss time<\/a>, the Panthers will lean on veteran Andy Dalton<\/a>, who is too old and can’t reel in the wins the team is looking for. While Young has shown signs of life after another slow start this 2025 campaign, it might be best for the Panthers to bring in some real competition in the signal-caller room. Fields could use this moment as a fresh start and fight for a starting job in Carolina.<\/p>\n

2. Baltimore Ravens<\/h3>\n

After losing quarterback Lamar Jackson<\/a> for several games due to an injury, the Baltimore Ravens had one of the worst supporting casts for the two-time MVP. Baltimore can’t afford to lean on Jackson for most of the workload and be unprepared for disasters like they’ve endured this season, leading them to be 1-5. Veteran Cooper Rush is probably one of the worst backups of all time, and even though Tyler Huntley had a shot, it didn’t live up to the hype for the Ravens. Fields is a safe acquisition if the Ravens are looking to get some backup help, and he would fit into the run-oriented offensive scheme in Baltimore.<\/p>\n

3. Los Angeles Rams<\/h3>\n

Veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford<\/a> is probably playing his best football ever in his career. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, as the starter could retire at any moment. This speculation started this past January when they lost the Eagles, so it’s still a real possibility here.
