After losing wide receiver Mike Evans due to an injury, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers should be in pursuit of a new offensive weapon. While the team has a ton of talent between rookie Emeka Egbuka<\/a>, Tez Johnson, Sterling Shepard and Chris Godwin, when healthy, the Buccaneers should still get a capable receiver to fill the hole. After the contested catch, Evans went down with a concussion, but it wasn’t the only injury he suffered on the play. He also suffered a broken clavicle<\/a>, and it’s hard to imagine what his future holds either way after the 2025 campaign.<\/p>\n

While many may not know if Evans will continue playing in the league beyond this season, the Buccaneers need a reset in their receiving corps either way. With Godwin slowing down, it’s obvious that if they want a real chance in the postseason, they will need to make a splash here before the trade deadline.<\/p>\n

Top 4 Buccaneers Trade Targets After the Mike Evans Injury<\/h2>\n

With Evans out for the rest of the season, this means Johnson, Egbuka, Shephard and Ryan Miller will need to step into a heavier role. While they’re not the most exciting receivers on the roster, they can’t do much either way when it comes to the postseason. Quarterback Baker Mayfield’s performance on the field in the loss against the Lions<\/a> is proof of what may come down if they find a fix soon.<\/p>\n

1. Allen Lazard, Jets<\/h3>\n

With the New York Jets most likely tanking the season, it’s fair to speculate that wide receiver Allen Lazard could be on the trade block. Despite not being the most adequate trade target option, he’s a decent weapon that can turn hot in this Tampa Bay offense. After naming Tyrod Taylor the starting signal-caller,<\/a> Lazard is better off with a contender at this stage of his career.<\/p>\n

There were rumors that he could reunite with Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh, but him joining Mayfield in the NFC might be what suits him.<\/p>\n

2. Calvin Ridley, Titans<\/h3>\n

After having already granted the release for veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett<\/a>, the Tennessee Titans could trade Ridley at a low-stakes cost. The Buccaneers should make a run for Ridley, who could still be a temporary No. 1 receiver in the league. He isn’t the same weapon he once was, recording back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, but he has the potential and athleticism to help Mayfield’s journey to a deeper playoff run.<\/p>\n

3. Jakobi Meyers, Raiders<\/h3>\n

Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers<\/a> is on the brink of a trade in the upcoming days. After requesting a trade earlier, before the 2025 campaign, Meyers could finally get his wish. There would be no better route for Meyers to reset his career after spending time with the Patriots and Raiders in the AFC for all of his career than to join Mayfield in the NFC.<\/p>\n

4. Jaylen Waddle, Dolphins<\/h3>\n

The Miami Dolphins have already said they’re not trading Jaylen Waddle<\/a>, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the Buccaneers continue to knock on the door. Waddle is a precise route-runner, similar to what Egbuka will be in the next several years.
