As we approach Week 8 of the NFL season, injuries and depth concerns continue to shape roster decisions across the league. While the trade deadline is coming soon, not every team wants to give up valuable draft capital to improve their roster. Instead, many front offices prefer to look toward the free-agent market to add proven veterans. Several players remain unsigned who can still make an impact for teams looking to strengthen weak spots for depth or for a playoff push. Here are five available NFL free agents who could sign before the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Available NFL Free Agents Who Could Sign Soon<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Jamaal Williams<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

The 30-year-old running back recently visited Tampa Bay but left without a deal. Williams, a former Packer, Lion, and Saint, has carved out a solid career as a reliable backup and locker room leader. His best season came in 2022 with Detroit, where he ran for 1,066 yards and scored 17 touchdowns. Known for his tough running style and energy, Williams still has something to offer a team that values veteran leadership and effort.<\/p>\n

The Saints could be a realistic destination once again. Backup running back Kendre Miller tore his ACL<\/a> Sunday leaving a major hole behind Alvin Kamara. Asante Samuel Jr.<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

One of the more intriguing names still on the market, Asante Samuel Jr., has been rehabbing from offseason surgery to address a lingering nerve injury. He\u2019s expected to be fully cleared by midseason and is eager to return. Despite the setback, Samuel is only 26 years old and offers plenty of upside.<\/p>\n

Teams in need of cornerback depth could view him as a smart buy-low signing. His youth and experience make him an attractive midseason addition, especially for teams struggling with injuries in the secondary.<\/p>\n

Justin Simmons<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n

Many fans are surprised that Justin Simmons remains unsigned. The veteran safety, still just 31, has been one of the league\u2019s most consistent defenders the last several years. He\u2019s a former All-Pro with outstanding range, leadership, and intelligence on the back end.<\/p>\n

Simmons has reportedly chosen to take his time and wait for the right opportunity with a contender. A team like Buffalo or Kansas City could look to bring him in as a veteran presence for a playoff run. His ballhawk ability and instincts makes him one of the top available defensive players.<\/p>\n

Offensive Line Help: Cody Whitehair<\/a> and Mark Glowinski<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Teams looking for offensive line depth have two solid veteran options in Cody Whitehair and Mark Glowinski. Whitehair has started 121 games over nine seasons, primarily with the Bears, and can play both center and guard. His versatility and experience make him a valuable midseason pickup for any team dealing with injuries in the trenches.<\/p>\n

Glowinski, with 101 career starts, has spent time with the Seahawks, Colts, and Giants. Like Whitehair, he\u2019s known for reliability and toughness. As offensive line injuries pile up around the league, both players could easily find new homes before the regular season ends.<\/p>\n
