The much-anticipated return of third-year wide receiver Rashee Rice<\/a> lived up to the hype as the Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> dominated the Las Vegas Raiders<\/a> clash, 31\u20130, in a Week 7 blowout at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Rashee Rice Explains Punt<\/h2>\n

The former SMU standout, making his first appearance of the season after serving a six-game suspension for violating the NFL\u2019s personal conduct policy and recovering from a season-ending injury suffered in Week 4 last year \u2014 wasted no time making his presence felt.<\/p>\n

“Just a lot of passion,\u201d Rice said after the game. \u201cI had to get the first one out of the way. I probably won\u2019t be punting the ball anymore, but I had to bring the juice. I had to bring a spark to the offense, first play, first touchdown of the game. However, we needed to get our energy going, I had to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the long layoff, Rice quickly rekindled his chemistry with quarterback Patrick Mahomes<\/a> finishing with seven catches for 42 yards and two touchdowns in his season debut.<\/p>\n

The moment carried deep emotion for Rice, who reflected on the adversity he faced leading up to his return.<\/p>\n

“It meant a lot more today,\u201d he said. \u201cYou don\u2019t really notice how much you love something until it\u2019s gone \u2014 or could be gone. I don\u2019t ever want to feel that again. Being out here with my brothers, that\u2019s the most love I\u2019ve had in a long time. I feel great.\u201d<\/p>\n

The wide receiver was quick to share his perspective on what fans can expect from the Chiefs offense as he continues to get back into form following a long layoff.<\/p>\n

“Maybe more plays, more touchdowns \u2014 not just from me, but from everybody,\u201d he said. \u201cJust being on the field consistently.<\/p>\n

Mahomes on Reuniting with Rice<\/h3>\n

Mahomes, who completed 26 of 35 passes for 286 yards and three touchdowns before giving way to backup Gardner Minshew<\/a>\u00a0in the second half, said it felt natural having Rice back in the lineup.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got a good sense for Rashee,\u201d Mahomes said. \u201cThere were a couple here and there when we were off, but the way he moves and runs routes \u2014 I\u2019ve got a good feel for where to put the football.\u201d<\/p>\n

Injuries Temper Chiefs\u2019 Dominant Win<\/h3>\n

While the Chiefs celebrated Rice\u2019s return, they also suffered a pair of concerning injuries.<\/p>\n

Rookie defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott<\/a> exited in the third quarter after what appeared to be a cheap shot from Raiders lineman Stone Forsythe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Head coach \u00a0Andy Reid <\/a>provided a cautious update postgame.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs far as the injuries go, Norman-Lott is really the only one,\u201d Reid said, via Arrowhead Pride.<\/em> \u201cHe hurt his knee, and we\u2019ll get an MRI tomorrow to see exactly what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kansas City also lost Pro Bowl guard Trey Smith<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0who left in the first half with a back issue and did not return.<\/p>\n

Trey\u2019s back did lock up on him,\u201d Reid said. \u201cHopefully it\u2019s nothing serious, but we\u2019ll just have to see how he does.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs (4-3) will look to carry their momentum into Monday Night Football next week when they host the Washington Commanders <\/a>\u00a0(3-4) at Arrowhead Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET.<\/p>\n
