Entering the season with a new quarterback and head coach, the Raiders believed they had the weapons required to make a playoff push. However, quarterback Geno Smith has not played up to expectations, leaving the team with an unimpressive 2-5 record after seven weeks of action. Meyers requested a trade before the season, and the Raiders will likely grant his request now that any shot at the postseason is effectively gone.

4 Teams That Could Trade For Jakobi Meyers

Jakobi Meyers missed Week 7 with knee and toe injuries, but assuming these ailments are minor, he should fetch a decent return on the trade block. Now playing in his age-29 season, the wide receiver has recorded 29 receptions for 329 yards and no touchdowns on 43 targets. He’s not a true WR1, but he’s a great second or third option who could add some much-needed depth for contenders.

Main Photo: Trevor Ruzkowski – Imagn Images

4. Buffalo Bills

Entering the season, everyone believed the Buffalo Bills would have an easy path to winning the AFC East. However, the emergence of Drake Maye and the New England Patriots means that Buffalo must improve their roster if they want to avoid traveling in the Wild Card round. As of this posting, Buffalo is a half-game behind New England in the standings, and the Patriots also have the tiebreaker over them thanks to their Week 5 victory in Buffalo.

Josh Allen is fantastic, but he’ll need more help to close the gap in the standings. Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman are fine supporting options, but this team could use another legitimate weapon. Jakobi Meyers can play in the slot and out wide and his ability to win in the intermediate part of the field should be a welcome addition to this offense.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen looking for an open receiver ends up running with the ball during first half action at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park on Oct. 5, 2025.

3. San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers sit atop the NFC West following a Sunday Night Football victory over the Atlanta Falcons, and they’ve done it all despite facing an absurd amount of injuries. Ricky Pearsall has battled injuries all year, Jauan Jennings is playing through broken ribs, and former first-round pick Brandon Aiyuk doesn’t seem to be close to a return.

Kyle Shanahan excels at scheming players open, but he could use more versatile players in his offense. Mac Jones and Jakobi Meyers had a strong chemistry during their time in New England, so a trade would make sense. While Brock Purdy is the starter when healthy, he’s struggled to stay on the field and Jones has proven to be a capable passer in this offense.

Main Photo: Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images

2. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers lost in Week 7, but they have to feel good about their offense. Aaron Rodgers lacks the consistency that defined his career in the 2010s, but he looked like his old MVP self in the shootout against the Cincinnati Bengals. Now sitting at 4-2, the Steelers still have a comfortable lead in the AFC North and should look for reinforcements that can help them go deep in the playoffs.

Quite frankly, a Jakobi Meyers trade is exactly what this team needs. D.K. Metcalf is more than capable of being the top option in this passing attack, but this team needs another option who can consistently get open and move the chains. Meyers is perfect for this role and could be the missing complementary piece to make this team a legitimate contender.

Sep 28, 2025; Dublin, Ireland; Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (8) and defensive tackle Cameron Heyward (97) leave the field after an NFL International Series game against the Minnesota Vikings at Croke Park. New England Patriots

The New England Patriots made a mistake when they effectively chose Juju Smith-Schuster over Jakobi Meyers in March of 2023. Now, it’s time to rectify that mistake. Drake Maye is playing at an MVP level, most recently completing a staggering 91.3% of his passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns against the Tennessee Titans. Stefon Diggs looks like a legitimate WR1 and Kayshon Boutte has developed a strong rapport with Maye, but this team needs a third option. Demario Douglas has been too inconsistent, and Jakobi Meyers could be the perfect fit for this offense.

Jakobi Meyers hasn’t played with a quarterback as good as Maye since his rookie season with Tom Brady, so he’d probably welcome a trade back to his original team. The Patriots have legitimate Super Bowl aspirations for the first time since 2021, and now is the time for them to capitalize on the window provided by Drake Maye’s rookie contract.

Sep 21, 2025; Foxborough, Massachusetts, USA; New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye (10) hands off the ball to New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson (38) during the first quarter at Gillette Stadium.
