The former undrafted free agent has done a remarkable job of overcoming his nonexistent draft capital to establish himself as one of the league’s more reliable deep threats. However, he’ll be a free agent at the end of the season, and the cash-strapped Saints probably can’t afford to keep him around. Rather than losing him for nothing, the team should trade him and maximize its return.

Top 4 Rashid Shaheed Trade Destinations, Ranked

There is no such thing as too many good wide receivers, and contenders across the league should be willing to give up a draft pick for Shaheed’s services. While he’s not a legitimate WR1, the Weber State product can add a vertical element to every offense in the league and increase a team’s chances of winning it all.

Main Photo: Matthew Hinton – Imagn Images

4. Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are getting Rashee Rice back and, on paper, have enough weapons to support Patrick Mahomes. Rice is a reliable slot receiver, first-round pick Xavier Worthy can make plays downfield, and former Patriot Tyquan Thornton has done well to establish himself as a situational deep threat. If all three players remain productive, the Chiefs won’t need to trade for Rashid Shaheed.

However, that’s a big ‘if’. Rice is returning not only from suspension, but also from a season-ending knee injury. While he looked good in the preseason, nobody knows how he’ll look against premier NFL talent. Worthy is battling injuries of his own, and it’s hard to say if Thornton genuinely figured out how to play wide receiver, or if he’s just a byproduct of Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs scheme. Mahomes hasn’t been as deadly with the deep ball in recent seasons, and getting a legitimate downfield weapon like Shaheed could make this offense all the more dangerous.

Aug 22, 2025; Kansas City, Missouri, USA; Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice (4) on the sidelines against the Chicago Bears during the first half of the game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Buffalo Bills

Rather than having one star receiver, the Buffalo Bills surrounded Josh Allen with a small army of competent pass-catchers. Khalil Shakir is a solid slot option, Keon Coleman can win in contested situations, and Dalton Kincaid is an above-average tight end. What they don’t have, however, is a player capable of consistently stretching the field, but they could get one with a Rashid Shaheed trade.

Josh Allen has the strongest arm in the NFL, and pairing him with Shaheed could lead to one of the most explosive offenses in football. With Drake Maye’s Patriots providing legitimate competition within the division, Buffalo must do something to ensure they don’t have to travel in the Wild Card round. Adding Shaheed would be the best way to make an already dangerous offense nearly unstoppable.

2. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be on pace to win the AFC North by default, as every other team in the division is battling through an absurd amount of injuries. The present-day version of Aaron Rodgers might be good enough to win games against lesser competition by relying on the defense, but he’s not good enough to singlehandedly power this squad to a championship. He’ll need more help, and a Rashid Shaheed trade could be the best way to bolster the receiving depth chart.

The D.K. Metcalf trade has worked wonders, and now it’s time to complete the room with Rashid Shaheed. Rodgers can’t push the ball downfield like he used to, so having someone like Shaheed who can take the top off of defenses could be a godsend. The Steelers are going all-in on 2025, and Shaheed could help this team play deep into January.

Main Photo: Mitch Stringer-Imagn Images

1. New England Patriots

The New England Patriots have arrived, and they’re not going anywhere. Second-year Drake Maye is already playing like one of the best quarterbacks in the game, which means the Patriots have the biggest competitive advantage in football: a franchise QB on a rookie contract. While New England’s receivers have performed well thus far, they could use a legitimate deep threat to consistently stress the defense.

Drake Maye throws one of the prettiest deep balls in football and routinely fits downfield passes into tight windows. This success should continue if the Patriots trade for Rashid Shaheed, as Maye has the arm strength to reach every corner of the field. Even when Shaheed isn’t getting targeted, his vertical abilities should open up underneath routes for the rest of the team.

Sep 21, 2025; Foxborough, Massachusetts, USA; New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye (10) hands off the ball to New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson (38) during the first quarter at Gillette Stadium.
