In Week 5, it was rookie sensation Omarian Hampton who was bitten by the injury bug. He has already been placed on injured reserve by the Chargers, meaning we will be without his services for at least four games. The sad truth is there isn’t going to be anybody we can pick up to replace what he was giving us for the past two weeks, but there are a couple of options in Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal that are widely available on waiver wires. Just be aware that you won’t be picking up a replacement for the talented back you started in Weeks 4 and 5, but rather you will be adding the Temu versions of Najee Harris and Omarian Hampton from Weeks 1 and 2. Ah, such is life in fantasy football. Let’s see who made our top 10 running back rankings for this week.

Week 6 Top 10 Running Back Rankings

1) Jonathan Taylor vs. Arizona Cardinals

He’s been the best back in the league, and it’s not even close. Last week, he topped 30 fantasy points for an astounding third time in five games. The Cardinals have been stronger against the run than they have against the pass thus far in 2025, but that really shouldn’t matter for JT. Leave him in your lineup every week, as he can score three touchdowns in any given week.

2) Christian McCaffrey vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The wheels haven’t fallen off yet, so keep plugging him in. The volume that San Francisco has been feeding CMC is hardly sustainable, but we can enjoy it while it lasts. No other back is anywhere close to the 20 carries and 10 targets that McCaffrey has been getting every week. He knows what to do when the ball is in his hands, and he’s been the single most consistent back in fantasy thus far this season. While he hasn’t had the 30-point spike games that Taylor has had, CMC hasn’t had a single game with fewer than 20 fantasy points. He’s been the model of consistency, and he’s somehow managed to stay healthy when every single one of his teammates has not. Enjoy him while he lasts.

3) Bijan Robinson vs. Buffalo Bills

The Falcons return from their bye by hosting the first-place Bills this Monday Night. The Bills are ranked in the bottom 5 of the league against the run, and Atlanta will look to take advantage by getting the ball in Bijan’s hands as much as possible. Robinson has also been heavily involved in the passing game, making him matchup and game script proof. You drafted him super high for a reason, so leave him in your lineup.

4) Saquon Barkley vs. New York Giants

Revenge game? Nah. I doubt he has anything left to be upset about after getting paid and winning a Super Bowl. He’s just really good and the Giants aren’t, so expect him to have his best game of the season this Thursday night. The Giants rank 26th in the league against the run, and the only way Saquon doesn’t get 100 yards rushing is if the Giants turn the ball over in their own territory so many times that the Eagles offense just won’t have enough real estate to consume on their way to the end zone. Look for Barkley to eclipse the century mark for the first time this season and to get into the end zone for the 5th time in six games.

5) Josh Jacobs vs. Cincinnati Bengals

The Packers return from their bye week and will host the Bengals and their brand-new QB, Joe Flacco. Flacco can’t be much worse than Jake Browning, but he’s not going to be light-years better either. The Packers should control this game easily as more than a 2-touchdown favorite at home, and we can expect Jacobs to be a large part of the game plan. Look for Jacobs to also eclipse the century mark for the first time this year and find paydirt at least once.

6) Jahmyr Gibbs vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Sep 22, 2025; Baltimore, Maryland, USA; Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs (0) reacts after rushing for a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens during the first half at M&T Bank Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Peter Casey-Imagn Images

This game should be a shootout as the 51 implied point total would suggest, and Gibbs was born for these types of games. When the Lions are in fast-break mode, it’s usually Gibbs who’s lined up behind Goff. He should get plenty of opportunities to contribute both as a ball carrier and as a pass catcher. Look for Gibbs to find the end zone for the fifth straight game.

7) Kyren Williams vs. Baltimore Ravens

Williams had a bit of a breakout game last week as he found the end zone twice en route to a 31-point fantasy day in PPR leagues. The biggest surprise was his involvement in the passing game as he was targeted a season-high 10 times, turning those into 8 receptions for 66 yards and those 2 scores. This week, the Rams get a depleted Ravens defense that currently sits dead last in the league in points allowed, as well as 29th overall against the run. Williams is in a smash spot this week. Get him in your lineups.

8) Ashton Jeanty vs. Tennessee Titans

The rookie exploded two weeks ago against Chicago but came back to earth last week with a respectable 15.9 PPR points against the Colts. We like seeing the 7 pass targets, as the Raiders are finally realizing that they need to keep their top draft pick involved even when the running lanes aren’t there. Despite being without top blocker Kolton Miller, the running lanes should still be there this Sunday against a Titans defense that is ranked 30th in the league against the run.

9) Javonte Williams vs. Carolina

Williams has quietly been a league winner so far this year. If you drafted Javonte, you likely took him in the ninth or 10th round as maybe your third or fourth running back. Give yourself a pat on the back, as he’s been on this list pretty much every week since he scored two touchdowns in Week 1 against the Eagles. While I would suggest fielding offers and selling high on the Cowboys back, you have to play him this week against Carolina. Williams has a solid matchup against a Panthers D ranked in the middle of the pack against the run in what should be a positive game script for the Cowboys offense.

10) Jacory “Bill” Croskey-Merritt vs Chicago

Bill broke out last week in a big way against the Chargers by taking 14 carries for 111 yards and 2 scores while adding another 39 yards on 2 receptions. Be wary that we don’t know for sure if he’s going to be the full-time lead back, but he does have a great matchup against the Bears, who rank 31st in the league against the run. We were in a similar situation last week with Woody Marks, so don’t start Bill over full-time “bell cow” backs like Breece Hall, Travis Etienne, Derrick Henry or DeVonne Achane, but keep an eye on him as an option if you need a very solid injury/bye week replacement.

Another week is in the books, and another impactful injury has left fantasy owners scrambling.
