There are some that advocate waiting on drafting their guy in single-QB leagues, while there are others that profess that getting a top 5 option is the only way to build your team correctly. After 5 weeks, the jury is still out on which way works best. The top 5 QBs drafted this year were Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Jayden Daniels, Jalen Hurts, and Joe Burrow. Read on to see where these quarterbacks fall in our Week 6 rankings.

If you nabbed Allen, you’re feeling pretty good. If you went with Hurts, you’re doing OK, but it feels like he’s been a disappointment. Daniels missed a couple of games, while Lamar looks like he will miss at least the same, and we won’t even go into Burrow. So those who waited must be the smart ones, right? Well, maybe from the standpoint of not spending a higher pick for similar production, but not completely.

Options like Dak Prescott, Justin Herbert, Justin Fields, Drake Maye, and Jordan Love have had some great moments, but they’ve each had a few dud games mixed in as well. So far this season, it’s really been Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield, who seem to be giving us the best of both worlds. They were drafted right after the top 5, but before the rest of the pack and they have been the two most solid options for fantasy owners this season. Where will they rank in this week’s top 10? Let’s take a look.

Top 10 Quarterback Rankings for Week 6

1) Josh Allen vs. Atlanta

Allen had somewhat of a quiet week by his standards against the Patriots. Still, he was able to give us north of 10 fantasy points, and that’s why he’s still our top option this week at the position. The Falcons actually sit as the top defense against the pass thus far this season and should be well-rested coming off their bye week. All we need from the Falcons is for their offense to manage to score 20+ points, and Allen will do the rest. The only thing that can slow this guy down is the Bills not needing him in any given week (see week 2 against the Jets). Lock him in your lineup if you have him.

2) Jayden Daniels vs. Chicago

The sophomore sensation was able to return after a two-week hiatus, and it was just what the Commanders needed. The knee injury didn’t seem to slow him much as he was able to chip in 39 rushing yards on top of a solid passing day. The Bears defense is very soft against the run, but I expect them to bring the safety up to shadow Daniels, giving the receivers more room to beat them deep. There’s a chance Daniels will be getting back his top weapon, Terry McLaurin, for the Monday Night matchup. Daniels is just too good to bench; get him in.

3) Jalen Hurts vs. Giants

The Thursday night game looks like it could be a “get right” matchup for Philly and their offense. I’d expect Saquon Barkley to get his steps in and then some against his former team, but there should be plenty of meat on the bones for more scoring. Hurts has been fairly matchup-proof, as he’s only had one dud in his 5 starts so far in 2025. The running aspect of his game was missing last week against Denver, and I would expect that to change against the Giants. In his lone start against New York in 2023, Hurts was able to rush for two scores, and I would expect at least one this week.

4) Patrick Mahomes vs. Detroit

When the Chiefs need Mahomes to throw it, he puts up great fantasy numbers. In their three losses so far this year, Mahomes has totaled 26, 23, and 31 fantasy points. This week, the Chiefs host a Lions team that has averaged well over 40 points per game since week 1. This sets up perfectly for Mahomes to have a monster day as he tries to keep pace with Goff and friends.

5) Jared Goff vs. Kansas City

It stands to reason that if we like Mahomes’ half of this anticipated shoot-out, then we must have some interest in the Detroit side of the ball. The only minor concern is the fact that the Lions actually do have a running game, and KC has been stronger against the pass than the run. Nevertheless, Goff has 30-point upside in any given week, and this game feels like it could get up into a 70+ point total for both sides combined.

6) Baker Mayfield vs. San Francisco

As of right now, if you told me Baker Mayfield was going to win the league MVP award, I couldn’t argue with you. He’s been amazing for a banged-up Bucs squad, and his fantasy numbers have been among the best in the league. He has given us a great scoring floor with no less than 17.7 points in any game while showing us his upside potential with a 29.7 point game last weekend. This week against San Francisco, it should fall somewhere in between, as we just don’t know how hard the Bucs will have to push to stay ahead of the 49ers’ depleted offense. Last week, Matthew Stafford had a huge game against them, so let’s hope Baker can come through with a similar stat line.

7) Justin Fields vs. Denver

It’s pretty hard to figure out how the QB of an 0-5 team can be a top 10 fantasy option at QB. The fact of the matter is, Fields has not exactly been the model of efficiency running Gang Green’s offense, but it hasn’t hurt his fantasy numbers. He had one miserable dud of a game in Week 2 against the Bills, but in his other three starts, he’s been a top 5 option in each of those weeks. Using his legs, he has put up totals of 29.5, 27.1, and 25.9 fantasy points, and I would expect another 20+ point performance this week in London against the Broncos.

8) Dak Prescott vs. Carolina

He’s been a bit Jekyll and Hyde this season as he’s given us 3 glorious weeks of 26.1, 33.9, and 28.2 fantasy points, with a couple of duds mixed in (7.8 and 14.1). The Cowboys just aren’t stopping anybody on defense, and Dak has been forced to throw the ball a ton to keep Dallas in games this season. Even with a slower-paced Panthers team on tap, the Cowboys will still likely allow enough points to keep Dak chucking the rock. The volume is just too good to bench; get him in.

9) Drake Maye vs. New Orleans

Maye had a quiet week in Buffalo, as the Patriots relied on the run game for both of their scores against the Bills. It was the first time this season that Maye was held without either a rushing or passing score. Expect that to change this week against a Saints defense that ranks in the middle of the pack in points allowed this season. May is also due for a rushing score if his “every other game” pattern of getting into the painted paradise continues.

10) Bryce Young vs. Dallas

Seriously? This is a bit of a stretch at 10, but I really wanted to get him into this write-up. There are safer options like Caleb Williams, Bo Nix, Kyler Murray (if healthy), Jordan Love, and Daniel Jones that most should rank ahead of Young for this week, but we can’t ignore this amazing matchup. If you need to find a replacement for this week for Lamar Jackson or Joe Burrow, look no further than my weekly favorite QB, “The Guy Playing Dallas”!

The Cowboys kept their streak of opposing QBs finishing in the top 5 for the week by allowing Justin Fields to put up 25.9 points last week. Fields joined a list of names that includes Caleb Williams, Jordan Love, and RUSSELL WILSON. Yes, the Russell Wilson who is now a backup for a team that couldn’t beat the Saints. Young is capable of having spike weeks, as he showed us back in Week 2 against the Cardinals when he posted 25.3 fantasy points. I’m not saying to play Bryce Young over any of the other names I mentioned above, just to keep him in mind if you need somebody to plug in this Sunday.

If you’re playing fantasy football, you know how tricky the quarterback position can be to figure out.
