The Treylon Burks Era is officially over in Tennessee, as the Titans released the former first-round pick from the injured reserve earlier in the week. Famously selected with the pick acquired in the A.J. Brown trade<\/a>, Burks never came close to living up to his draft potential. Plagued by injuries, inconsistency, and poor quarterback play, the Arkansas product has recorded just 53 receptions for 699 yards and one touchdown since entering the league.<\/p>\n

4 Teams That Could Sign Treylon Burks After Titans Release<\/h2>\n

While these numbers are disappointing, it’s worth noting that he started his career on a high note. Treylon Burks appeared in 11 games as a rookie, recording 33 receptions for 444 yards and one touchdown before a concussion prematurely ended his season. There is a very real chance he never builds upon or even recaptures his rookie form, but the following five teams could roll the dice on him, even if it’s just by giving him a spot on the practice squad.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

1. Pittsburgh Steelers<\/h3>\n

The Pittsburgh Steelers are 3-1 and in the driver’s seat in a surprisingly open AFC North. While this team could probably make the playoffs with its current collection of talent, it’ll need an infusion of offensive firepower to go on a deep playoff run. Aaron Rodgers looks like a shell of his former self<\/a>, and while D.K. Metcalf has been a great addition, he can’t do it all on his own.<\/p>\n

Signing Treylon Burks wouldn’t fix this offense and shouldn’t prevent the team from pursuing a wide receiver trade at the deadline. However, seeing as he’s essentially free, it can’t hurt to kick the tires and see if there’s any gas left in his tank. The Steelers excel at developing wide receivers, so perhaps Burks can finally live up to his talent in a new environment.<\/p>\n

2. Baltimore Ravens<\/h3>\n

Everything that could go wrong for the 2025 Baltimore Ravens has gone wrong. The team currently sits at 1-4 and, with Lamar Jackson sidelined to injury<\/a>, the team must do something to salvage their season. Treylon Burks cannot singlehandedly turn this ship around, but the wide receiver could provide some depth for this team down the stretch.<\/p>\n

The Alohi Gilman trade proves the Ravens are not willing to quietly accept their fate. This team still has playoff aspirations and, despite all the injuries, has the talent to save its season. Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman are a quality receiver duo, and DeAndre Hopkins is a savvy veteran. However, Burks could be a nice depth piece and, if he impresses in practice, could factor into the equation in 2026.<\/p>\n

3. Dallas Cowboys<\/h3>\n

Jerry Jones loves to make low-risk gambles on big names, and Treylon Burks could be the next player to join the club. Some of these gambles have worked out (George Pickens) while others haven’t (Jonathan Mingo), but Burks should be cheaper than either player. After all, he’s a free agent and shouldn’t cost anything more than a veteran minimum contract and a spot on the practice squad.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys have one of the worst defenses in football and no way to fix it without a massive trade. Fortunately, Dak Prescott is playing some of his best football and has the talent to go blow-for-blow with any team in a shootout. While this isn’t an ideal way to play football, adding someone like Burks to the mix will give Prescott another set of hands with decent upside, which could make a difference as the team fights for a Wild Card spot.<\/p>\n

4. New Orleans Saints<\/h3>\n

The New Orleans Saints are in Year 1 of a massive rebuild, and they don’t have the resources to find proven talent to support potential franchise quarterback Spencer Rattler<\/a>. What they do have, however, is players they can trade for draft picks. New Orleans will likely sell at the deadline, and they could send receivers Chris Olave and\/or Rashid Shaheed to contenders for decent returns. However, this will leave the Saints with limited options in the passing game.<\/p>\n

Treylon Burks is a fine low-risk signing to finish off the 2025 season for a Saints team that won’t sniff the playoffs. In a best-case scenario, he shows some signs of life and parlays that into a spot on the 2026 team. However, even if he doesn’t pay off, adding him shouldn’t make the team any worse.<\/p>\n
