Initially, the Eagles announced that they had simply cut the veteran offensive guard/tackle. Barbre’s versatility would soon be showcased though as injury-after-injury led him to stand in for numerous positions along the offensive line. Barbre never earned any sort of Pro Bowl nod, but he was generally regarded as a slightly-above-average starter for Philadelphia.

Now in Denver, Barbre likely has another opportunity to make a starting lineup protecting either Trevor Siemian or Paxton Lynch in 2017.

What this Means for the Eagles’ Offensive Line

Allen Barbre had been projected to be the Eagles starting left guard for the 2017 season. However, if the Eagles were willing to trade him then it’s clear that they either have confidence in second-year player Isaac Seumalo or former Tennessee first-round pick Chance Warmack. There’s also Stefen Wisniewski who recently signed a contractextension.

For now, Seumalo seems to have the starting job. Last year, Seumalo performed adequately considering the circumstances. In six games, he allowed two sacks and 12 total quarterback pressures according to Pro Football Focus.

However, don’t sleep on Warmack stealing the job out from under Seumalo. While Warmack was generally considered a bust in Tennessee, he had to transition to the right guard position. In Philadelphia, Warmack will have the opportunity to return to his natural position with the added bonus of playing under a former coach from Alabama.

Embed from Getty Images

The Philadelphia Eagles traded Allen Barbre to the Denver Broncos for a conditional 2019 draft pick as reported by the team website.

[36,21
7309,7393
post-24996","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-news","category-eagles","tag-denver-broncos-roster","tag-philadelphia-eagles-news
["GET
